Today is Allied Health Professions Day, a chance to celebrate the professionals improving health and wellbeing in more ways, and in more places, than many people realise.

At JOURNEY, our Psychology, Occupational Therapy and Behaviour Support teams each bring a different lens to understanding the whole person.

Across clinics, homes, workplaces and communities, they help people build capacity, navigate complexity and create meaningful change in everyday life.

The real strength of allied health lies not only in the specialist knowledge within each discipline, but in what becomes possible when different disciplines work together around the person.

Today, we’re celebrating our incredible team, and allied health professionals everywhere. for the skill, care and commitment they bring to creating better lives.

Psychology. Occupational Therapy. Behaviour Support.

Different disciplines. One shared purpose.

Allied health: For everyone,
everywhere.

Today is Wear It Purple Day 💜

At JOURNEY, we believe a better life is one where you can be fully yourself and know that you belong.

Today we stand alongside LGBTQIA+ young people and celebrate a future where every young person feels safe, supported and free to be who they are.

Because belonging matters.
Being seen matters.
Being accepted for exactly who you are matters.

And creating better lives means creating spaces where everyone has the opportunity to live with purpose, connection and possibility. 💜

Calm. Grounded. Psychology-informed Behaviour Support. Meet Dee. ✨

We’re delighted to welcome Dee to the JOURNEY team as our newest Behaviour Support Practitioner.

With a strong background in psychology and extensive experience supporting adolescents and adults, Dee brings a calm, thoughtful and practical approach to Behaviour Support. She has particular experience working alongside autistic individuals, people with intellectual disability and those experiencing a range of mental health challenges.

What sets Dee apart is her ability to build genuine, trusting relationships with the people she supports. She takes the time to understand each person’s strengths, goals and support needs before working alongside families, support workers and multidisciplinary teams to develop practical strategies that make a real difference in everyday life.

At JOURNEY, we believe great Behaviour Support doesn’t stop at the plan. Dee loves working directly with clients, providing practical, on-the-ground support while coaching the people around them to build confidence, strengthen capability and create lasting outcomes.

Known for her mature, grounded and compassionate style, Dee helps people feel heard, understood and supported. Whether she’s working with a client, coaching a support team or partnering with a family, her focus is always on creating better lives through genuine connection, collaboration and practical support.

📍 Dee is currently welcoming new NDIS referrals for adolescents and adults across Melbourne’s inner suburbs.

✨ Meet Binnie ✨

We're super excited to welcome Behaviour Support Practitioner Binnie to the JOURNEY team!

Binnie brings extensive experience supporting teenagers and adults with complex behavioural, developmental and mental health needs, with a particular passion for working alongside young people aged 15–25 years.

Her warm, energetic and approachable style helps her quickly build genuine relationships with clients who may have struggled to engage with services in the past. Whether supporting autistic individuals or those living with psychosocial disability, intellectual disability, schizophrenia or other mental health presentations, Binnie has a natural ability to see beyond behaviours and recognise the strengths, goals and potential of the people she supports. By combining genuine connection with practical, evidence-informed strategies, she helps people achieve outcomes that matter most to them.

At JOURNEY, we believe great behaviour support happens on the ground, not just in a report. Binnie loves working directly with clients while partnering closely with families, support workers, schools and multidisciplinary teams to build confidence, strengthen capability and create lasting outcomes.

If you're looking for a Behaviour Support Practitioner who connects naturally with young people, brings positive energy to every interaction and isn't afraid to roll up her sleeves to support real change, we'd love to introduce you to Binnie.

📍 Binnie is currently welcoming new NDIS referrals across Melbourne's inner suburbs, including Richmond, South Yarra, Fitzroy, Hawthorn, Kew, Camberwell, Northcote, Brunswick and surrounding suburbs.

🌈 Celebrating Pride Month at JOURNEY 🌈

This month we added a little extra colour to the clinic, enjoyed a fantastic night together at Drag Bingo, and celebrated something that’s deeply important to us.

At JOURNEY, we believe people do their best work, and live their best lives, when they feel safe to be themselves.

Whether you’re a client, a family member, a referrer, or someone considering joining our team, we want you to know that you are welcome here. We celebrate different identities, experiences and perspectives because they make our community stronger.

The best teams are built when people feel they belong. That’s the kind of workplace we’re proud to be creating every day, and it’s the kind of environment we’re committed to providing for the people and families we support.

Here’s to inclusion, belonging, and creating better lives, together.

Happy Pride Month from all of us at JOURNEY. 🌈💜

The best recommendations in the world have little value if they can't be implemented.

At JOURNEY, helping families, support teams and clients turn good ideas into meaningful change is one of the things we do best.

Last week, our team had the privilege of learning from Clinical Neuropsychologist Dr Holly Meadows as part of our annual JOURNEY Winter Series event, exploring negotiation-informed approaches to implementation.

One of the biggest challenges in allied health isn't simply developing great recommendations, it's ensuring they can be successfully implemented in the real world. That's why we continue to invest heavily in professional development for our team. We want our practitioners to have the skills to not only identify what might help, but to work together with the people around a client to make solid changes on the ground.

A huge thank you to Holly for sharing her expertise and helping our team and our clients continue to grow.

If your child is in Year 11 or 12 and struggling to study, it can quickly turn into frustration - on both sides.

But often, what looks like lack of motivation is something else. We regularly see students who are working hard… but feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure where to start.

And when that builds, it shows up as avoidance, procrastination, shutting down or even lashing out.

It’s not that they don’t care.
It’s that it’s starting to feel like too much.

The good news is there are ways to support them that actually make a difference.

If you’ve been noticing this at home, you’re not alone.
