🏡 A warm Health First welcome to Julio, our Occupational Therapist at the Mount Isa clinic! 👋

We asked Julio a few fun facts to get to know him better:
1️⃣ He can spend hours listening to music without ever getting bored. 🎶🎧
2️⃣ Julio loves travelling — especially when there’s good food involved! ✈️🍜
3️⃣ Don’t underestimate him when it comes to board games or casual matches — he’s surprisingly competitive! 🎲😄
4️⃣ He’s always up for a spontaneous road trip or a last-minute weekend adventure. 🚗🌏
5️⃣ While Julio takes his work seriously, outside the clinic he loves good food, travelling, humour, and coming up with unnecessarily creative comebacks! 😂

👋 Be sure to say hello to Julio when you visit our Mount Isa clinic!

💻 PREVENTING BACK PAIN AT WORK
Studies show that lower back pain is the most commonly recorded of workplace injuries, ranking higher than any other condition.
Often both severe and costly, back injuries can arise from several ergonomic exposures including heavy lifting, forceful movement, awkward positions and poor workstation set up.

🪑 PAY ATTENTION TO POSTURE
When standing, balance your weight evenly on your feet. Don’t slouch. To promote good posture when sitting, choose a chair that supports your spinal curves. Adjust the height of your chair so that your feet rest flat on the floor or on a footrest and your thighs are parallel to the floor.

🏋️‍♂️ LIFT PROPERLY
When lifting and carrying a heavy object, lift with your legs and tighten your core muscles. Hold the object close to your body. Maintain the natural curve of your back. Don’t twist when lifting. If an object is too heavy to lift safely, use lifting devices.

💪 MODIFY REPETITIVE TASKS
If you work at a computer, make sure that your monitor, keyboard, mouse and chair are positioned properly. If you frequently talk on the phone and type or write at the same time, place your phone on speaker or use a headset. Avoid unnecessary bending, twisting and reaching.

👂 LISTEN TO YOUR BODY
If you must sit for a prolonged period, change your position often. Periodically walk around and gently stretch your muscles to relieve tension.

⛑️ PREVENT WORKPLACE INJURIES
Preventing workplace injuries is all about being proactive. Don’t wait for things to go pear-shaped, make a risk assessment plan to stop injuries before they occur.

If you are currently experiencing back pain, don't wait until it gets worse. Book an appointment now!

Dealing with a stubborn injury or pain that just doesn’t seem to settle?

Shockwave Therapy uses targeted acoustic waves to stimulate the body’s natural healing response, promote blood flow and support tissue repair.

It may be used as part of treatment for conditions such as plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinopathy, tennis or golfer’s elbow, shoulder tendon problems, heel spurs and hip bursitis.

One of the benefits? It’s a non-invasive treatment that can support pain relief, mobility and recovery — without surgery.

Wondering if Shockwave Therapy could be suitable for you? Speak with our physiotherapy team to learn more or book an assessment.
