You've probably seen the number.

50%.

And understandably, a number like that can cause concern.

But when it comes to the latest NDIS changes, numbers without context can create unnecessary panic.

From October, some budget allocations for social, civic and community participation supports are being progressively reset as plans are reassessed or renewed.

The Government has stated that these budget allocations will be reduced by 50%.

But here's the important part:

That doesn't automatically mean every participant will experience a 50% reduction in what they actually spend.

Why?

Because some participants may not currently use their full budget allocation. The changes are also being introduced progressively as plans are reassessed or renewed.

And critical supports relating to essential daily living needs are not included in these changes. So before jumping to conclusions...Before assuming the worst...Before making decisions based on a headline...
