Health in Mind Orange is excited to be finalists in the State Business Awards next week, in the category of Excellence in Workplace Health & Wellbeing.

๐Ÿ† We're State Business Awards Finalists! ๐ŸŽ‰

We are incredibly excited to announce that Health in Mind Orange is a finalist in the Excellence in Health and Wellbeing category at the NSW State Business Awards next week!

This recognition is a wonderful acknowledgement of our team's commitment to providing high-quality psychological care to the people of Orange, Blayney and communities across Central NSW.

Since opening our doors in 2014, Health in Mind Orange has grown from one psychologist and a part-time administrator to a thriving multidisciplinary practice of 20 psychologists, a psychiatrist and a dedicated administration team.

๐Ÿ’™ Over 13,000 people have accessed our services, reflecting both the enormous need for mental health care in regional Australia and our commitment to improving access to quality psychological support.

But our success is about much more than growth.

We are passionate about clinical excellence, investing in professional development, supervision, research and innovative evidence-based treatments.

We are equally committed to creating a psychologically healthy workplace, recognising the risks of burnout, compassion fatigue and vicarious trauma within our profession. Supporting the wellbeing of those who care for others is central to everything we do.

We also believe in giving back through community education, mental health advocacy, research partnerships and the development of the next generation of regional psychologists.

Our vision has always been to build a practice where excellent clinical care, staff wellbeing and sustainable business can flourish together.

This recognition belongs to our extraordinary team, whose compassion, professionalism and commitment make Health in Mind Orange what it is.

Whatever the outcome next week, we are incredibly proud of what we have built together and the difference our team continues to make in our community.

๐Ÿ’™ Congratulations to all the finalists!

This national recognition is a wonderful acknowledgement of Deb's extraordinary commitment to clinical excellence, her profession, her colleagues and the mental health of our regional community.

Deb joined Health in Mind Orange in 2023, relocating from Sydney to undertake a clinical placement. Since then, she has become an invaluable member of our team, demonstrating a level of clinical maturity, professionalism and leadership well beyond her years of experience.

๐ŸŒŸ Deb's achievements are remarkable for an early career psychologist:

๐Ÿ”น ๐‚๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ข๐ญ๐ฆ๐ž๐ง๐ญ ๐ญ๐จ ๐ซ๐ž๐ฌ๐ž๐š๐ซ๐œ๐ก: Deb contributed as a clinician to a Charles Sturt University research project investigating the effectiveness of the Family Empowerment Program, supporting family members whose loved ones are experiencing addiction. This research has resulted in a peer-reviewed publication, contributing to the international evidence base for family-inclusive addiction interventions.

๐Ÿ”น ๐ˆ๐ง๐ง๐จ๐ฏ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐ข๐ง ๐œ๐ฅ๐ข๐ง๐ข๐œ๐š๐ฅ ๐ฉ๐ซ๐š๐œ๐ญ๐ข๐œ๐ž: Deb has developed an extensive range of evidence-based psychoeducational resources and client handouts addressing neurodiversity, anxiety, trauma, emotional regulation and psychological wellbeing. These resources are shared across our team of psychologists, benefiting hundreds of clients and helping make psychological knowledge more accessible.

๐Ÿ”น ๐ˆ๐ฆ๐ฉ๐ซ๐จ๐ฏ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐š๐œ๐œ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ ๐ญ๐จ ๐ช๐ฎ๐š๐ฅ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ ๐œ๐š๐ซ๐ž: Deb has assisted to streamline our cognitive assessment report templates, improving clarity and readability for clients while reducing clinician workload and helping make assessments more affordable.

She actively engages in professional development, supervision and research, and has volunteered with the Australian Psychological Society's Western Region group, contributing to professional networking and communication across Central NSW.

Deb volunteers her expertise with the Mental Fitness Collective, translating psychological research into accessible resources, and has contributed to community education, school leadership programs, crisis support and mental health fundraising.

Despite being early in her career, Deb is already someone her colleagues turn to for clinical advice, encouragement and support. She generously shares her knowledge, mentors others and continually looks for ways to improve the services we provide.

What makes Deb particularly special is that her professional achievements are matched by her genuine kindness, humility and care for others. She is a much-loved member of our team, always ready to support a colleague, share a laugh, or arrive with delicious homemade treats!

At Health in Mind Orange, we are passionate about supporting psychologists to flourish in their careers and contribute meaningfully to their profession and community. Deb exemplifies everything we value:

Deb, we are incredibly proud of you. This award is so richly deserved, and we cannot wait to see the contribution you continue to make to psychology in the years ahead.

Please join us in congratulating Deb on this outstanding national achievement! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ‘

October is NSW Small Business Month, and weโ€™re excited to share a special milestone for our practice founder, Dr Belinda Harris! ๐ŸŒŸ

Belinda was recently featured in the NSW Small Business Commissionerโ€™s new Insights paper, ๐๐’๐– ๐’๐ฆ๐š๐ฅ๐ฅ ๐๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ข๐ง๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ: ๐€ ๐’๐ญ๐จ๐ซ๐ฒ ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐ƒ๐ข๐ฏ๐ž๐ซ๐ฌ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ ๐š๐ง๐ ๐ƒ๐ฒ๐ง๐š๐ฆ๐ข๐ฌ๐ฆ.

Earlier this year, Belinda took part in a NSW Small Business Commission focus group to help inform the report. Her contribution was highlighted under the paperโ€™s seventh insight: The Reluctant Entrepreneur.

For Belinda, building Health in Mind Orange has never been about chasing the title of "entrepreneur"โ€”itโ€™s always been about being a Clinical Psychologist first. Business is simply the vehicle that allows our team to do meaningful, high-quality work for our clients, support our clinicians, and serve the Orange community.

The report highlights a truth many practice owners and professionals feel deeply: small business is often less about business for its own sake, and more about purpose, autonomy, and creating a space to do work that matters.

Weโ€™re so proud to see the voices of health professionals and practice owners recognised for the vital role they play in local communities and economies. ๐Ÿ’™
