As National Carers Week wraps up, we want to say a genuine thank you to every carer in our community β€” the family members and friends who show up, day after day, often without any formal recognition. Your work matters, and it doesn't go unnoticed. If you're a carer and you need support, don't hesitate to reach out β€” to us, or to Carer Gateway on 1800 422 737.

Part 2 of our home modifications breakdown: complex modifications. These involve changes that affect your home's structure, or need custom or more technical work. They're higher risk, often impact several areas of the home, and generally cost more than $25,000 in total β€” they also need formal approvals and certificates of completion. Examples include permanent ramps that need building permit approval, installing elevators or lifts, and extensive electrical, plumbing, or structural work. It's a bigger process, but we're here to help you through every step. Give us a call on 1300 900 950.

House Cleaning and Yard Maintenance are two separate supports funded under the NDIS, and together they cover more than people realise. House Cleaning covers regular cleaning and other household activities, including laundry. Yard Maintenance covers light garden work like mowing, weeding, and basic tidying β€” not major landscaping or structural work. Worth knowing: groceries or cleaning products generally aren't funded, it's the support worker's time that's covered. If you're not sure what's included in your plan, send us a message and we'll talk you through it.

This week (11–17 October) is National Carers Week, an annual event recognising Australia's 3 million+ unpaid carers β€” the family members and friends who support someone living with disability, mental illness, chronic illness, or age-related frailty. This year's theme is 'Care for a carer: making carers visible'. If you're a carer, we see the work you do, often quietly and without recognition. Over this week, we'll be sharing ways to recognise and support the carers in our community.

Today is World Mental Health Day, a day recognised around the world to raise awareness of mental health and to push for better support for people experiencing mental ill-health. Mental health matters for everyone in our community β€” participants, families, carers, and our own team. If today is a hard day, please reach out to someone you trust, or contact Lifeline on 13 11 14. You don't have to carry it alone.

Home modifications aren't one-size-fits-all, so we're breaking them down into two parts β€” starting with minor modifications. These are straightforward changes that don't affect your home's structure, and they're relatively low risk. They generally cost less than $25,000 in total. Common examples include adding or removing taps, constructing simple ramps, installing non-slip floor treatments, and installing lever door handles. If you think a minor modification might help you, send us a message.

Daylight Saving starts tonight for most of Australia (NSW, VIC, SA, TAS and the ACT) β€” don't forget to move your clocks forward one hour before bed. It's also a handy reminder to check your smoke alarm batteries while you're at it, especially if home safety is something we help you manage. Sleep well, and enjoy the extra daylight!

Today is International Day of Older Persons, a UN-recognised day to celebrate the contributions older Australians make to our communities and to reflect on how we support healthy, independent ageing. At Endis, some of the people we support are older Australians living with disability, and dignity and independence matter just as much at any age. Here's to everyone doing the work of ageing well β€” and to the people who support them.
