Avocado chocolate pudding—simple, creamy and made in minutes

This is an easy dessert for those moments when you want something rich and chocolatey without a complicated recipe.

You’ll need:
- 1 large ripe avocado
- ½ cup coconut milk
- 1–2 tablespoons cacao powder, to taste
- A little vanilla
- A pinch of salt, optional
- Cacao nibs and whipped
coconut cream, to serve optional.

Healthy eating is also about the skills we build.

Making this fresh "kimchi" reminded me that eating well isn’t only about knowing which foods are nutritious.

It is also about learning simple skills that help us enjoy those foods more often.

Fermentation has been used across many cultures to preserve seasonal ingredients, reduce waste and create distinctive flavours. Long before fermented foods became a wellness trend, they were simply part of everyday food preparation for many cultures.

Kimchi doesn’t need to be treated as a miracle food to deserve a place at the table. It can be appreciated because it makes vegetables interesting, adds flavour to a simple meal and introduces greater variety into how we eat.

It is also something to approach according to your own body. Fermented foods suit some people better than others, and a small serving may be enough—especially when introducing them for the first time.

Healthy eating doesn’t always require another new product. Sometimes it means rediscovering practical food traditions and slowly building the confidence to make something ourselves.

Have you ever made a fermented food, or is there one you would like to learn?

Freshly homemade kimchi, sweet potatoes, cheese and olives—simple food brought together for lunch. 🌿

Making something from scratch is satisfying, especially when you can enjoy it alongside a few everyday ingredients without needing an elaborate recipe for the whole meal.

Healthy eating can be simple, practical and full of flavour.

Have you tried making your own kimchi?

Eating more natural food doesn’t require a complete lifestyle overhaul

When people hear “wholefood" they may imagine expensive ingredients, hours spent cooking or a kitchen where everything is made from scratch.

But it can be much simpler than that.

It might mean adding vegetables to a familiar meal, choosing fruit for a snack, cooking eggs instead of skipping breakfast, or using beans and lentils to make dinner more satisfying.

It doesn’t mean every food must be fresh, organic or completely unprocessed. Frozen vegetables, canned beans, tinned fish and plain yoghurt can all make nourishing meals easier and more affordable.

A useful starting point is not to ask, “What do I need to stop eating?”

Instead, ask yourself

“What wholefood could I add?”

Perhaps it’s a handful of greens, an extra vegetable, some avocado, beans, fresh herbs or a piece of fruit.

These small additions may not feel dramatic, but repeated over time, they can change the overall quality and variety of what we eat.

Healthy eating doesn’t need to begin with restriction. It can begin by making a little more room for food that still looks like food.

What natural food could you add to one of your usual meals this week?

How good does a bowl of colourful, natural food look? 🌿

A cosy bowl of pasta made with vegetables, herbs and spices simple ingredients brought together into a satisfying meal.

When I talk about eating natural food, I don’t mean following a perfect diet or making everything from scratch. I mean choosing more foods we can recognise and preparing them in ways we genuinely enjoy.

It doesn’t need to be complicated. Start with familiar ingredients, add plenty of flavour and build from there.

This practical, back-to-basics approach is something we’ll be sharing more of through The Wellness Hub.

A real meal doesn’t need to be complicated.

Eggs, capsicum, and sautéed greens—simple ingredients that make a satisfying meal when I want something quick.

This is one of my regular combinations because it works at any time of the day and takes very little planning.
