Spotlight on National Carers Week - Carers WA 🤝💐

Dovida Perth North East was pleased to attend the Carers WA Conference 2026, to connect, contribute and collaborate with other carers and program participants.

Highlighting that National Carers Week begins Sunday, October 11, under the theme "Care for a Carer, Making Carers Visible."

The conference serves to support the 320,000 unpaid carers in Western Australia. Noted that Carers WA has reached a 30-year milestone and detailed various service expansions, such as the Prepare to Care Hospital program which operates in 23 metropolitan hospitals and several regional locations like Broome and Geraldton.

Carers WA Conference 2026, leading into National Carers Week, inspires, inform and celebrate carers across WA. As Carers WA proudly celebrates 30 years of supporting carers across WA, the event will reflected the importance of working collectively to navigate the current and emerging issues faced by carers.

The dynamic program addressed the topics which matter most to carers. Sector professionals, carers with lived experience and motivated speakers share their stories and insights.

Carers WA CEO Richard Geber reminded attendees that they are not alone in their journey and encouraged them to reach out to one another.

Great News for Older Australians! 🎉

From today 1 October 2026, eligible personal care services under the Support at Home program will be fully funded by the Australian Government with Support at Home.

1.) No more out-of-pocket contributions for approved personal care services
2.) More support to help you stay safe, independent, and comfortable at home
3.) Greater financial relief for older Australians and their families

If personal care services such as assistance with showering, dressing, mobility, toileting, or personal hygiene are included in your support plan and funding is available, the Australian Government will cover the full cost with Support at Home; categorized under Clinical Support.

This is a significant step towards making essential care more accessible and affordable, ensuring older Australians can receive the support they need without the added financial burden.
