James wasn’t eating badly.
That was the problem.
From the outside his diet looked absolutely fine.
Good foods.
Matchday handled.
Nothing obviously “wrong”.
But his intake didn’t match what being a professional footballer was actually demanding from him.
Pitch.
Gym.
Training.
Matches.
Six days of exercise across the week.
Once we looked properly, the gap was obvious.
He simply wasn’t eating enough, particularly carbohydrate, for the workload he was doing.
So we started matching his intake to the football.
More fuel around demanding sessions.
Fuel during sessions where appropriate.
Less on lighter days.
His energy across the training week changed significantly, and the recurring niggles stopped.
That doesn’t mean nutrition magically fixes injuries.
It means “I eat healthy” and “I’m fuelling enough” are two completely different things.
