🌙 CALL IT A COVEN. CALL IT A COMMUNITY.
Just don’t call it a cult. We’ve got enough problems without matching robes and a superiority complex😅😂
I’ve noticed that when I talk about Triple Moon Academy, I naturally gravitate towards the word community rather than coven.
Not because I dislike the word coven. Quite the opposite. But because I want to be intentional about what we’re creating here.
To me, both words represent something beautiful. Togetherness. Connection. Shared knowledge. Belonging.
Not hierarchy. Not superiority. Not one person holding all the answers.
I think there’s an important conversation to be had about the difference between mentorship, leadership and the dreaded guru mentality.
SEEKING GUIDANCE IS NOT SURRENDERING YOUR POWER 💅🏽
We’ve become understandably cautious of spiritual leaders, teachers and organised groups. For good reason 👀
History has shown us what can happen when charismatic individuals use spirituality, fear, belonging or promises of enlightenment to manipulate others.
But here’s where discernment becomes important👇🏽
Not every teacher is a guru.
Not every leader is a dictator.
Not every group is a cult.
Not every follower is a sheep.
Following someone’s teachings doesn’t mean blindly following their beliefs.
You can admire someone’s knowledge without agreeing with everything they say.
You can seek mentorship without handing over your autonomy.
You can belong to a community without sacrificing your individuality.
You can be a beginner in one area while being incredibly knowledgeable in another.
DISCERNMENT IS NOT THE SAME AS DISTRUST 🙅🏽♀️
I think sometimes we confuse discernment with being constantly on guard.
Looking for red flags in every interaction. Questioning everyone’s intentions. Being so afraid of manipulation that we stop allowing ourselves to connect. 🚩🚩🚩
But discernment doesn’t have to mean hypervigilance 👀
It can simply mean learning to recognise what aligns with your values, what feels authentic to you and whether someone’s actions consistently reflect their words.
Sometimes, that means asking questions.
Can I disagree here?
Am I allowed to change my mind?
Can I question the teacher?
Is my curiosity encouraged, or am I expected to accept everything I’m told?
Can I leave without guilt, pressure or punishment?
A healthy community should make room for all of those things.
So let’s be clear: something feeling good doesn’t automatically make it safe, just as something challenging doesn’t automatically make it harmful. That’s why we look at patterns, actions and accountability, not just vibes.
Why community?
Because I don’t want Triple Moon Academy to be a place where everyone thinks exactly like me.
That’d be a bit f*cked 😂🤣
I want people who challenge ideas, bring different perspectives, share their experiences and teach me things I haven’t considered.
I want the beginner witch learning about moon phases sitting alongside the experienced herbalist who knows more about plants than I ever will.
I want the science lovers, the spiritual explorers, the sceptics, the intuitives and the people who are still figuring out what they believe.
I want us to learn from each other.
Leadership isn’t about being above people. It’s about being willing to guide, support and take responsibility.
Mentorship isn’t about creating dependence. It’s about helping people develop the confidence and knowledge to find their own way.
That’s the kind of space I want to facilitate.
Not a room full of people who agree with me.
A room full of people who feel safe enough to be themselves.
COMMUNITY DOESN’T REQUIRE CONFORMITY 💅🏽 💃🏽
We can honour tradition without blindly repeating it 😮
We can respect experience without worshipping authority 😱
We can share spiritual practices without expecting everyone to hold the same beliefs 😯
We can disagree without becoming enemies 🤯
We can recognise that someone being further along a particular path doesn’t make them more worthy, enlightened or powerful than anyone else 💀
Your power doesn’t become mine because you join my membership.
It stays yours.
So call us a coven. Call us a community. Call us a gathering of wonderfully curious humans trying to make sense of life, magic and everything in between 🔮
I don’t particularly mind.
What matters isn’t the label.
It’s how we treat each other once we’re inside. 🖤
🌿 I’d love to hear your thoughts.
Does the word coven make you feel connected, curious or cautious?
Have you ever felt pressured to agree with a teacher, mentor or community just to belong?
What makes a spiritual space feel genuinely welcoming to you?
Let’s have the conversation. This is exactly the kind of thing I want us exploring together inside Triple Moon Academy. 🌙
