Diet and nutrients are what I prescribe most often in my consults, but when appropriate, I also love using herbal medicine to support specific symptoms and health goals.

I have a range of herbs on hand that I can mix into personalised formulas, including herbs I commonly use for:

🌿 Acute immune support — colds, infections, sore throats & congestion
🌿 Stress & mental wellbeing — anxiety, low mood, high stress & sleep
🌿 Female hormones — PMS, PMDD, painful periods, low progesterone, fertility, libido & cycle regularity

There’s no one-size-fits-all formula when it comes to herbs. I choose what’s appropriate based on you, your symptoms and what we’re trying to achieve.

They do taste like herbs and are often quite bitter 😂🌿 — but they can be a really useful addition when they’re the right fit.

My friend recently paid $95 for a consult for a throat infection and was told: “Try a salt water gargle. If it doesn’t work, there are antibiotics.”

I’m not saying that advice is wrong. Sometimes simple measures are exactly what’s needed.

But it got me thinking about how many options can sit between “try this” and antibiotics — and how many people simply don’t know those options exist.

This is where naturopaths come in. There are different tools, approaches and ways of supporting the body, depending on the individual and what’s going on.

Different health professionals have different toolkits — and NO ONE KNOWS IT ALL. 🙂

It’s not about one approach being better than another. It’s about knowing there are options. 🌿

Perimenopause is different for every woman, so your support should be too.

While hormone-focused support may be appropriate for some women, it’s not always the right approach.

For example, if you have a history of a hormone-sensitive cancer, we may instead focus on supporting your overall wellbeing and managing symptoms rather than working directly on hormones.

Every treatment plan is individual & designed around your health history, symptoms, and goals.

You don’t have to just “put up with” perimenopause. There are many ways we can support you through this transition and help you feel more like yourself again.

If your current supplement routine isn’t working, there are usually other options worth exploring.

If you’re finding pregnancy supplements difficult because of nausea, food aversions, or a sensitive gag reflex, speak with your naturopath or maternity healthcare provider.

The goal shouldn’t be simply to lose weight.

It’s to lose fat while keeping the muscle that supports your metabolism, strength, energy & long-term health.

GLP-1 medications can be a really effective tool.

To be honest, I would have absolutely gone for it during my struggles with weight gain.

But they only work long-term alongside healthy lifestyle changes.

I have seen multiple clients come to me, frustrated, after putting weight back on after stopping the medication.

Sustainable nutrition, movement, sleep, & stress management are what create lasting results.

These medications may seem like quick fixes, but they’re best used alongside building healthy habits that support you for years to come.

If you have questions about supporting your health while taking a GLP-1 or once you’ve stopped, send me a DM.

Natural anti-androgen supplements (licorice and peony) can help reduce the impact of excess androgens in women. This may support improvements in common PMOS-related symptoms like acne, male-pattern hair thinning, hirsutism (excess facial and body hair), and weight challenges.

This in turn helps to balance hormones, promoting regular ovulation and cycles.

While these supplements can be a valuable part of a holistic approach to women’s health, it’s important to consult a qualified healthcare professional before starting any new supplement to ensure it’s appropriate for your individual needs and health circumstances.

When we talk about prenatal nutrition, folate usually gets all the attention—but choline deserves a place in the conversation too.

Choline is an essential nutrient involved in fetal brain and nervous system development, cell membrane formation, placental function, & healthy methylation pathways.

Research continues to show that adequate maternal choline intake may play an important role in supporting baby’s neurodevelopment.

Despite this, many pregnant women don’t meet current intake recommendations through diet alone.

As a naturopath, I love helping women optimise their nutrition during pregnancy with a food-first approach whenever possible.
