Changes to some NDIS support budgets are now in effect.

The changes will reduce budgets for Social, Economic and Community Participation and Improved Daily Living Skills when:

📅 a new plan is created (from October 2026)

📅 a plan is reassessed (from October 2026 to September 2027)

📅 a plan is renewed (from February 2027 to September 2027).

If your current plan end date is after 30 September 2027, it will be brought forward. We’ll give you at least 60 days’ notice if we do this.

The support budget reductions don’t apply to new framework plans.

Have you heard about our Disability Support Services Sector Inquiry? We’ve been hearing from employers, employees and organisations in the sector, to hear what’s working and what needs improvement.

If you’ve experienced underpayment, non-payment or challenges in the disability support services sector, come along to one of our open forum events to share your insights.

We’ll soon be in Hobart, Adelaide, Launceston, Mt Gambier, Cairns and Darwin.

Here’s the event info: http://www.fairwork.gov.au/disability-forums

These events are about workplace relations experiences only, such as pay, entitlements and employment conditions (not provider compliance under the NDIS, or enquiries or complaints about specific workplace disputes).

If you can’t make it in person, you can still contribute to the inquiry by email.

Preparing for post-school life is never easy. Add NDIS to the mix, and you’ve got a recipe for a whole lot of stress.

Many Year 12 students still have NDIS Plans that have been extended since Year 7 or 8. It’s probably time to request an unscheduled plan reassessment- but the new legislative changes make that more complicated.

Our latest article looks at how the reassessment and plan renewal changes are likely to impact school leavers: https://teamdsc.com.au/resources/how-ndis-changes-impact-school-leavers

Plus, tomorrow we are running a webinar at 1pm AEDT- School Leavers and NDIS Plan Changes: Preparing for Life After School.

It will cover the NDIS changes impacting school leavers and the supporting evidence that will set them up for success. Time for Q&A at the end. Free for On-Demand members. Get your tickets: https://teamdsc.com.au/events/school-leavers-and-ndis-plan-changes-preparing-for-life-after-school

Care for a carer this National Carers Week.

More than 3 million Australians provide unpaid care to family members, friends and loved ones, including many who support people with disability. This year’s Carers Week theme, ‘Care for a Carer: Making carers visible’, reminds us that carers need ongoing support too.

You can support a carer by:

✅ Checking in and listening to how they’re going
✅ Asking what would help, and offering practical support
✅ Helping them find information and support if they need it

Find out more about National Carers Week and explore resources for carers: https://bit.ly/4jjfkao

You can now find a new service agreement template, checklist and guidance – including easy read resources – on our website. 🤝

A service agreement is an agreement between you and your provider. It describes what you and your provider have agreed about your NDIS supports.

These resources will help you:

👉 better understand service agreements

👉 know your rights and what to look for when reviewing a service agreement

👉 be clear, along with providers, on supports being provided.

Using the new service agreement template is encouraged, but not mandatory. If you choose to use the template, it must be tailored to your needs.

Support provided early in a child’s life can make a positive impact on their development.

Thriving Kids is an improved approach to early intervention that aims to help children aged 8 and under with development delay and/or autism with low to moderate support needs.

All Thriving Kids supports will be rolled out by January 2028. The way people access the NDIS won’t change before then.
