Big feelings can be difficult for little ones to navigate, and learning to regulate emotions takes time, practice and support.

Through co-regulation, play and everyday experiences, we can help children build the skills they need to understand their emotions, feel safe and develop strategies that work for them.

Remember, children don’t need us to expect them to manage every feeling independently, they need us to support them as they learn. ✨

At Ayre Allied Health, we recognise that every child is unique, and emotional regulation looks different for everyone.

True inclusion is about more than simply being present. It’s about creating environments where every child feels welcomed, valued, understood and supported to participate in ways that work for them.

At Ayre Allied Health, this means recognising each child’s unique strengths, needs and abilities, adapting activities and environments, and creating opportunities for meaningful participation in everyday life.

Because inclusion isn’t about expecting every child to fit into the same space, it’s about making space for every child to thrive. ✨

Play is full of opportunities to learn, and sometimes the simplest games create the biggest moments of connection! ✨

Hungry Dino is a fun way to bring communication into everyday play, encouraging little ones to interact, make choices, follow directions, and practise taking turns.

Whether you're feeding the dino, counting colourful balls, or cheering each other on, there are so many opportunities to support language development while having fun! 🌈

Remember, you don’t need fancy resources to support communication, just a little play, connection, and lots of opportunities to interact. 💬

Little differences in the way children pronounce words can tell us a lot about their speech development!

Understanding common speech patterns helps us recognise what’s expected as children grow and when a little extra support might be helpful. ✨

At Ayre Allied Health, we’re here to help families navigate their child’s communication journey with confidence, one sound at a time.

Have questions about your child’s speech? Our friendly Speech Pathology team is here to help.

Who knew such a simple toy could create so many opportunities for communication? 💬✨

Spinning tops are a fun, engaging way to support your child’s early language development through play! Try modelling action words like spin, stop, go and fall, encouraging requests such as more, go and help, and introducing positional words like under and on.

You can also build in turn-taking and shared attention by taking turns to spin, stop and restart the fun!

Play might look simple from the outside, but so much learning is happening underneath! 🧸💛

Through play, children are developing communication, problem-solving, social skills, emotional regulation, motor skills and so much more, often without even realising they’re learning.

So the next time your child asks you to play for the hundredth time… remember, they’re doing some pretty important work! 😉✨

Let them lead, join in, have fun and embrace the mess. There’s learning in every moment. 🌈

Thinking about seeing an Occupational Therapist but not sure if you need a referral?

For many families, the answer is no! You can contact an OT directly to enquire about an assessment or support, you don’t necessarily need to see your GP first.

There are some funding pathways and programs that may have their own referral or eligibility requirements, so it’s always worth checking what applies to your circumstances. If your not sure where to start, send us a message and our team can help point you in the right direction.
