πŸ“± Important Update for Our Bulk Billed Patients

As part of recent Medicare changes, you may now receive an SMS from Medicare after your appointment asking you to confirm that you agree to your consultation being bulk billed.

βœ… Please complete this verification as soon as you receive it.

This SMS is your electronic consent, allowing us to finalise your Medicare claim. If the verification is not completed, it may delay the processing of your bulk billed visit and we may need to contact you to obtain your consent another way.

The SMS will come from Medicare & HotDoc and is a legitimate government request. It only takes a few moments to complete and helps ensure your claim is processed correctly.

If you have any questions or do not receive the SMS, please let our reception team knowβ€”we're happy to help.

Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us comply with the latest Medicare requirements.

Call now to connect with business.

PNEUMOCOCCAL VACCINE UPDATE - Now eligible.

01/07/2026

πŸ“’ Important Medicare Update – Effective 1 July 2026 πŸ“’

From 1 July 2026, there are changes to Medicare’s bulk billing consent process across Australia.

At Wellness Medical Clinic, if your appointment is bulk billed, you may now receive a text message from HotDoc asking you to provide consent for your Medicare claim.

πŸ“± What to expect:
β€’ After your appointment, you may receive an SMS from HotDoc on behalf of Wellness Medical Clinic
β€’ The message will contain a secure link to review and provide your consent
β€’ Simply follow the prompts to complete the process β€” it only takes a minute

This consent allows us to submit your bulk billed consultation to Medicare.

⚠️ Please note:
If we do not receive your consent, Medicare may not process your claim correctly, and this will incur a private fee for your consultation.

πŸ’™ Please be patient with our team as we transition to this new Medicare requirement.

If you have any questions or need assistance completing the consent form, our reception team is happy to help.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

πŸ’™ FRIDAY – Men's Health Week: Take One Step for Your Health

As Men's Health Week comes to an end, we have one challenge:

Do one thing for your health today.

βœ” Book a GP appointment
βœ” Go for a walk
βœ” Drink more water
βœ” Check in on a mate
βœ” Get enough sleep
βœ” Talk about your mental health
βœ” Make time for yourself

Good health isn't about being perfectβ€”it's about taking small steps consistently.

And while you're at it, check in on a mate. A simple "How are you going?" can make a bigger difference than you realise.

πŸ’™ Looking after yourself is one of the best things you can do for the people who care about you.

πŸ’™ THURSDAY – Men's Health Week: Don't Ignore the Signs

Have you been putting off seeing a doctor?

Many men delay seeking medical advice for symptoms they think will "go away."

See your GP if you're experiencing:
πŸ”Ή Unexplained weight loss
πŸ”Ή Ongoing fatigue
πŸ”Ή Changes in urination
πŸ”Ή Persistent pain
πŸ”Ή Shortness of breath
πŸ”Ή Changes in bowel habits
πŸ”Ή New lumps or skin changes

Early assessment can make all the difference.

Your health is too important to ignore.

πŸ’‰ PNEUMOCOCCAL VACCINE UPDATE – IMPORTANT CHANGES FROM 1 JULY 2026 πŸ’‰

From 1 July 2026, there will be an important update to the National Immunisation Program (NIP) for pneumococcal (pneumonia) vaccination.

A new vaccine, Capvaxive (21-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine / 21vPCV), will be introduced and will replace Prevenar 13 and Pneumovax 23 for eligible adults under the NIP.

βœ… Capvaxive is FREE under the NIP for:
β€’ Adults aged 65 years and over
β€’ Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander adults aged 25 years and over
β€’ Adults aged 18 years and over with eligible medical conditions that increase their risk of severe pneumococcal disease

Even if you have previously received a pneumococcal vaccine such as Prevenar 13 or Pneumovax 23, you may still be eligible for Capvaxive, provided it has been at least 12 months since your last pneumococcal vaccine.

Pneumococcal disease can cause serious infections such as:
🫁 Pneumonia
🧠 Meningitis
🩸 Bloodstream infections (sepsis)

Vaccination is one of the best ways to help protect yourself and reduce the risk of severe illness.

If you’re unsure whether you’re eligible, speak with your doctor or nurse.

πŸ“… Book online via HotDoc
πŸ“ž Or call Wellness Medical Clinic on (03) 5897 3000

Protect yourself and your loved ones β€” prevention is always better than treatment πŸ’™

πŸ’™ WEDNESDAY – Men's Health Week: Look After Your Heart

Heart disease remains one of the leading causes of illness in Australian men.

The good news? Many risk factors can be managed.

This week, challenge yourself to:
❀️ Go for a 30-minute walk
❀️ Check your blood pressure
❀️ Eat more fruit and vegetables
❀️ Cut back on smoking or va**ng
❀️ Book a heart health assessment

Small changes today can make a big difference tomorrow.

πŸ’™ TUESDAY – Men's Health Week: It's Okay to Talk

Men's mental health matters.

Many men feel pressure to "just get on with it" when life gets tough, but talking about stress, anxiety, depression or burnout is a sign of strengthβ€”not weakness.

If you're struggling, you don't have to face it alone.

Signs it may be time to seek support:
β–ͺ Feeling overwhelmed or constantly stressed
β–ͺ Changes in sleep
β–ͺ Loss of interest in things you enjoy
β–ͺ Increased irritability or anger
β–ͺ Feeling isolated

A conversation with your GP can be the first step.

14/06/2026

πŸ’™ MONDAY – Men's Health Week: Start With a Check-Up

When was your last health check?

Many common health conditions, including high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol and some cancers, can develop without obvious symptoms.

A simple check-up with your GP can help identify problems early and keep you on track for better health.

βœ… Blood pressure check
βœ… Diabetes screening
βœ… Cholesterol review
βœ… Medication review
βœ… Preventive health advice

Your health is worth making time for.
