Tips for picking a tattoo artist

Syd Vicious is a Melbourne tattoo artist working in illustrative black and grey, dotwork, realism and microrealism at Victims of Ink in South Yarra. She joined the studio in January 2024 after three years of tattooing, bringing a love of dark imagery, intricate textures and designs with a strong sense of character.

Her work moves between detailed animal portraits, botanical subjects and gothic imagery: skeletons, medieval scenes, ornamental crosses and flowing filigree. Fine textures and dot shading give her smaller pieces depth, while her larger projects combine realism with illustrative and ornamental elements.

In 2026, Syd won 1st place in Small Blackwork at the Great Western Tattoo Show in Swindon, UK. Her award-winning piece pairs a skull with medieval armour and a sword. See the tattoo and award announcement.

Whether you have a personal reference, a subject in mind or an idea for a larger project, Syd works with you on a design that suits the placement. Share your references through the enquiry form to discuss a custom tattoo and her next available appointments at our Chapel Street studio.

Khash is a Melbourne tattoo artist specialising in character, animal and colour tattoos at Victims of Ink in South Yarra. Her work spans playful Pokémon designs, expressive anime tattoos and detailed pieces inspired by the natural world.

Defined outlines, rich colour and detailed shading bring texture to fur, feathers and foliage. Her portfolio moves from big cats and birds to sunflowers, bonsai trees and ornamental designs. She also works in black and grey, using fine textures and soft shading for animal portraits, flowing compositions and illustrative pieces.

Khash draws her own designs and works with you on the subject, placement and how the tattoo follows your body. A favourite character, an animal you connect with or a personal idea can be the starting point. Share your references through the enquiry form to discuss a custom piece with her at our Chapel Street studio.
