If there is one thing our very own Hype Girl Kristin loves, it’s connecting with incredible people across the NDIS sector and cheering them on! And the best part? Making sure those connections don't stop after the first hello! 🙌

Last week, Kristin caught up again with Hayley from All Plan Management, and we LOVE seeing these connections continue to grow!

When Hayley first met Kristin, she gave her a hug because she felt like she already knew her from seeing her pop up so much on social media for New Wave Care! 😂 How good is that?! It’s a reminder that showing up, sharing what you care about and celebrating the amazing things happening across our sector can create connections before you’ve even met face to face!

And these two have plenty in common! Kristin has so much time for Hayley and her passion for what she does, especially the love she has for her team. Around here, we know a thing or two about celebrating the people who make our organisations what they are! Our people are at the heart of what we do, and we LOVE connecting with others who feel just as passionately about their teams.

But here's the thing about networking: That first chat is just the beginning!

It's the follow-up message, the checking in, the remembering to ask how someone is going and making time to keep that connection growing. It's building connections that go beyond a quick introduction and creating opportunities to learn from, encourage and support one another.

A HUGE thank you to Hayley for taking the time to catch up with Kristin again! And with a coffee catch-up already in the works, we have a feeling there are plenty more conversations ahead! ☕️

Yesterday, Kristin and Brendan had the opportunity to connect with Angelo from Good Shepherd Support Services.

Angelo's story is a powerful reminder of how personal experiences can shape the organisation. After watching his nephew, Moses, navigate the NDIS system and seeing the challenges his family experienced, Angelo was inspired to create something different.

Good Shepherd Support Services is built around relationships, lived experience, dignity and community, with a philosophy that people should be known first and supported second.

Supporting communities across Newcastle, the Hunter, Lake Macquarie, the Central Coast and Sydney’s Inner West and surrounding areas, Good Shepherd offers a range of supports, including Supported Independent Living, Individualised Living Options, Community Participation, Short Term Respite, day programs, community mentoring and transport.

One of the best things about connecting with other providers is hearing the stories behind their organisations, sharing experiences and learning from people who are just as passionate about making a difference in the lives of the people they support.

We believe our sector is stronger when providers make time to connect, share knowledge and support one another. There is so much we can achieve when providers come together, share knowledge and work towards better outcomes for the participants and the communities we support.

A big thank you to Angelo for your time, for sharing your story, your experiences and what drives you. And a shout-out to Kristin for making the connection happen!

🌊 12 months of Zoey making positive waves with New Wave Care!

Today, we’re giving a HUGE shout-out to our amazing Zoey, who is celebrating 12 months as part of the New Wave Care family!

Zoey, we want you to know just how much you are appreciated. We’re so grateful to have you on this journey with us, and we hope you know that the work you do and the person you are make you such a valued part of our team.

The people who make up New Wave Care are what make this journey so special. It's the way we support one another, celebrate each other's wins, work through the challenges together and share a vision that means something to all of us.

Zoey, thank you for the care, dedication, commitment and passion you bring to your role, for the positive difference you make in the lives of the people you support, and for being part of a team that genuinely wants to make positive waves across our communities.

Milestones like this are a reminder to pause the everyday and celebrate the people beside us. So today, we're celebrating YOU! We're proud to have you as part of the New Wave Care team, and we can't wait to see what the next chapter brings.

Here's to 12 months down and plenty more positive waves ahead! 🙌🌊

Help us give Zoey a big congratulations on her one-year anniversary!

If you've been following our socials for a while, you'll know that our community LOVES it when Geoffrey makes an appearance. And today, we have a special one to share!

Geoffrey decided it was time to try something new with his hair, so off he went to visit his favourite barber, alongside his Support Worker, ready to take on a fresh new look! ✨

Now, trying something new can be exciting, but it can come with a few nerves too. Even when it's something that seems simple to others, stepping outside you comfort zone can feel like a big deal. There's the anticipation, the decisions, the wondering how it will turn out, and that moment when you finally take the leap!

And this is where great support makes such a difference.

Having someone beside you who understands you, encourages you and gives you the confidence to give something new a go can change the whole experience. It's not about making decisions for someone or rushing them through the nerves. It's about being there, offering reassurance when it's needed, celebrating the excitement and supporting them to do things their way.

And then there's Geoffrey's favourite barber! 💈

There's something incredibly special about finding someone who makes you feel welcome, remembers you, takes the time to make you feel good and turns an everyday appointment into something you genuinely look forward to. That familiar face, that comfortable connection and the feeling of walking out with a fresh cut and a little extra confidence are worth celebrating.

These are the moments that remind us why support matters so much. It's about the everyday experiences, the new things people want to try, the relationships they build and the opportunities to feel good about themselves.

Because a haircut might seem like a small thing to someone else, but the confidence to try something new, the choice to change your look and the joy of being supported along the way? THAT is what matters.

Geoffrey, you are rocking that fresh new look! 🙌

And to Geoffrey's favourite barber Lux Grooming, thank you for being part of an experience that clearly means so much to him. It's wonderful to see the difference a welcoming team of barbers and a little kindness can make.

🌊 National Carers Week | To every carer, we see you. We appreciate you!

To every formal and informal carer out there, this week is for you. And honestly, so is every other week of the year.

To the support workers who show up, the nurses who go the extra mile, the family members who become carers without ever planning to, the parents navigating challenges others may never fully understand, the partners, siblings, friends and loved ones who stand beside someone through life's hardest moments. We see you. We appreciate you. And the difference you make matters more than you may ever realise.

We see the early starts, the long days, the patience, the problem-solving, the adapting, the advocating and the countless little things you do that might never make it onto a timesheet or receive a thank you.

We see the care that goes beyond a job description. The extra moment you take to listen. The effort you put into understanding someone else's world. The way you keep showing up, finding new ways forward and helping someone feel safe, valued, included and heard.

And we know that caring isn't always easy.

Some days are exhausting. Some moments are challenging. Sometimes, the smallest wins take the biggest effort, and the most meaningful things you do are the things nobody else sees.

But please know this: your work matters. Your presence matters. You matter.

We believe great support is about so much more than completing tasks. It's about relationships, trust, dignity, belonging and helping people live life their way. It's about recognising the person behind the support needs and making sure they have the opportunity to be heard, make choices and be themselves.

And that starts with the people who show up beside them.

To our incredible support workers, to carers across our communities, and to every unpaid family member or friend giving their time, energy and love to support someone else, we want you to know that what you do does not go unnoticed.

You are making a difference in ways you might never fully see. You are helping create moments of connection, opportunities for independence, feelings of safety and the possibility of a better day.

Please remember to extend some of that care to yourself, too. You deserve support, understanding, recognition and the chance to rest. You don't have to pour endlessly from an empty cup to prove how much you care.

This National Carers Week, let's do more than say thank you. Let's listen to carers. Let's advocate alongside them. Let's recognise their contribution, support their wellbeing and create communities where they feel valued, too.

Because the people who care for others deserve to be cared about.

To every carer, formal or informal, paid or unpaid: thank you for the difference you make, the compassion you bring and the way you continue to show up. You matter more than words can say, and we are grateful you are here.🌊

From all of us at New Wave Care, thank you for the positive waves of difference you make every single day.

🎤🌊 Another Hype Girl Q & A session and Kristin is with Zoey! 👀

Today's question for Zoey is:
👉 “Zoey, what made you want to get into this amazing sector?”

Because behind every person who works in the disability and community services sector, there’s a story. There’s a reason they chose this path, a reason they care, and usually a whole lot of passion behind what they do. 💙

We love that you are getting to know the people behind the roles at New Wave Care. 🌊

We brought the team together, rolled up our sleeves, put in the work, and guess what? New Wave Care has passed our NDIS audit with flying colours!

Now THAT deserves a moment in the spotlight! 🙌

Building a business takes a vision. Bringing that vision to life takes people who show up, work together, support one another, and put in the effort to make great things happen.

And that’s exactly what our team did!

This photo captures more than our staff coming together to complete an audit. It captures collaboration, shared commitment, and a team working towards something incredible.

There’s a whole lot that happens behind the scenes in disability support. The policies, the processes, the preparation, the teamwork, and all those important details that help keep our business operating to the standards.

Passing an NDIS audit isn't just about getting across the finish line. It's about the work that goes into getting there and the commitment to maintaining quality supports for the people who trust us to be part of their lives.

We are building something we're incredibly proud of. To our incredible team, THIS ONE IS YOURS! 🌊

Thank you for the effort, the collaboration, and the work you put in to make this happen. Every role matters, every contribution counts, and this achievement is something we can all celebrate together.

We're proud of our people, proud of what we're building, and proud to keep making positive waves!

🌧️ With the wet weather around this week, we're thinking of everyone in our New Wave Care community and hoping you're all keeping safe, warm and dry!

To our incredible Support Workers and fellow NDIS professionals travelling between supports, heading to appointments or taking participants out into the community, we're thinking of you too. We know there's a lot of travelling involved in supporting others, and wet weather can make those everyday journeys a little more challenging. Please take your time, allow for the conditions and look after yourselves along the way.

To our participants, families, friends and support networks, we hope you're all doing okay too! It's a good week to check in on one another, lend a hand where needed and make sure the people around us are travelling alright.

Most importantly, we hope everyone across our beautiful communities stay safe. Whether you're out and about supporting others, heading to an appointment or enjoying a cosy day indoors, please take care of yourself and those around you.

Sending warm wishes to everyone navigating the wet weather this week. Stay safe, stay dry and keep looking out for one another! 🌊

What does it feel like to work at New Wave Care? 🌊

Recently, our Hype Girl, Kristin, was invited to join the wonderful Mr Purple as a guest on his podcast, where she spoke about what it's like to work at New Wave Care.

For Kristin, it's about being part of a team where she can show up as her full, authentic self. Where her big personality, endless ideas, creativity and enthusiasm aren't things she needs to tone down. They're part of what makes her who she is, and they're welcomed and embraced by the people around her.

It's about knowing her ideas are valued, having the freedom to be creative and working alongside people who genuinely want to see each other succeed.

And that's something we want for every person in our team.

We know that everyone brings something different to the table. Different personalities, different perspectives, different strengths and different ways of seeing the world. We don't want everyone to fit the same mould. We want people to feel comfortable being themselves and know that what they bring matters.

Hearing Kristin speak so openly about her experience made us incredibly proud, because the culture we're building isn't just about the work we do. It's about the people doing it, how we treat each other and the kind of workplace we want to come to every day.

A huge thank you to Mr Purple for inviting Kristin onto his podcast and giving her the opportunity to share her experience. 🎙️

We can't wait for everyone to hear this conversation!
