We are incredibly proud to be featured by Exercise & Sports Science Australia (ESSA) in their story on Sydney Exercise Medicine. ❤️

From seeing clients in his parents’ garage in 2022 to building a multidisciplinary team across two Sydney clinics, our Director and Accredited Exercise Physiologist, Christopher Kondos, reflects on the journey behind Sydney Exercise Medicine.

In 2025, Sydney Exercise Medicine was named ESSA’s Practice of the Year, recognised for our personalised, multidisciplinary approach to care and our commitment to supporting each client’s individual goals.

The article explores what that looks like in practice. From 60-minute initial consultations and collaborative exercise physiology and occupational therapy care, to supporting clients beyond the clinic through our app, investing in our clinicians and celebrating the personal goals that matter most to our clients.

Thank you to ESSA for recognising our team and sharing the story behind Sydney Exercise Medicine.

Proud of Richie! 💪🏼

Nick has been working with Richie on building strength, confidence and functional movement through exercises including lower-body weight-bearing and upper-body strengthening.

We are so proud of Richie and all that he is accomplishing! 👏🏼👏🏼 Every session is a step forward, and it is fantastic to see his hard work paying off.

Keep up the great work, Richie! ❤️

What if something as simple as getting dressed could be a huge achievement? ❤️

Josh, Occupational Therapist at Sydney Exercise Medicine, talks through activities he uses with clients to develop the motor skills needed to change their clothes independently.

Because every new skill is a step towards greater confidence, independence, and the belief that “I can do this!” 🌟

A story of teamwork, questionable decisions, questionable dance moves and a whole lot of allied health energy.

Coming soon… 🎬😂

Can you sit down…and stand back up without using your hands?

It might sound simple, but the sit-to-stand movement is one of the most important functional skills we use every day. It plays a huge role in maintaining mobility, independence, and reducing the risk of falls.

If this movement feels difficult, that is okay! We have included a range of regressions and progressions to help you gradually build the strength and confidence needed to master it.

Remember: meet your body where it’s at, and keep progressing. 👏🏼❤️

We are incredibly honoured to have been named the 2025 ESSA Practice of the Year 🏆❤️

To be recognised alongside such inspiring finalists within our industry is something we are truly grateful for. This award reflects the passion, dedication, and care our entire team brings to Sydney Exercise Medicine every single day.

Our Director, Christopher Kondos, had the privilege of accepting the award in Adelaide on behalf of the team, accompanied by some of his family members who have supported the journey along the way.

This achievement belongs to every member of Sydney Exercise Medicine. It is because of their commitment, professionalism, and genuine care for our clients that we are where we are today.
