📣 New business announcement! 📣

We’re thrilled to announce the launch of The Supported Stage - Australia’s new specialist workplace mental health and wellbeing service for the performing arts and live event industry.

We partner with producers, companies and arts organisations to support the mental health and wellbeing of their people through employee assistance programs (EAP), workshops, training, consulting and tailored creative workplace programs.

Our point of difference is simple:
We don’t just know the performing arts. We’ve lived them.

The Supported Stage brings decades of experience working across the performing arts industry, alongside our professional mental health expertise.

Our team includes Jane Miskovic-Wheatley (clinical psychologist), Sophie Carter (counsellor) and Simon van der Stap (psychotherapist), with additional experience as researchers, educators and advocates across the arts and mental health sectors. Together, we bring a broad range of clinical and wellbeing expertise, grounded in genuine industry experience.

We understand the unique pressures, rhythms and realities of this industry because we’ve experienced them ourselves.

So when we work with an organisation, we’re not starting from scratch trying to understand what makes your workplace different. We already get it.

We offer support that is genuinely relevant to the people you employ and the environments you create.

And to the performers, creatives and crew: this is for you, too. We’re here to help create an industry where looking after your mental health is part of the culture.

Interested? Let’s talk. Reach out to us and start a conversation.

The Supported Stage: Supporting the people who make the show happen.

A huge thank you to the Australian Healthy Conservatoires Network for allowing me the opportunity today to present, “Time to Evolve: Are Our Training Models Fit for Today’s Artists?”.

This presentation was designed for tertiary creative arts educators and explored the current difficulty of balancing old school and new school teaching methods.

It asked the question, how can we continue to push our students through the discomfort of facing challenges and potential failure, while also nurturing the human behind the performer and creating a respectful, collaborative learning environment.

It’s a complicated and nuanced topic, and I hope today’s session started an important conversation and provided some new insights on how to navigate this delicate balance.

That’s a wrap on the 2025 ASPAH conference! Thank you so much to ASPAH for giving me the opportunity to speak on one of my passion subjects - resilience and growth mindset for those in the creative arts.

It was so fabulous to share with an audience of health professionals for the creative industries, including physios, therapists and educators. I hope you were able to take away some fresh insights that may help guide your students, clients and patients.
