Hype or Health: Seed cycling!
What does the research look like?
A 2025 systematic review pulled together 10 studies with 635 women in total. The research so far focuses on PMS and PCOS, not everyday “hormone balance.” The results leaned positive, especially for flax and sesame seeds and PMS symptoms.
But the reviewer rated the evidence as moderate quality, with small samples and no standard way of doing it.
Some studies tested the seeds themselves, not the swap-by-phase part.
Our verdict is that seed cycling is promising enough to study properly, but not strong enough to sell you a “hormone reset.” If you see a seed cycling kit promising to fix your hormones, that’s your cue to scroll on.
Painful, heavy or irregular periods, or PMS that knocks you flat, deserve a proper look. Chat to your GP or book a micro-consult with one of our practitioners in the Anni app. Link in bio
