Recent graduates can struggle to feel confident in their clinical abilities. But according to Emily Rose Yates Naturopath, it’s okay not to know everything. The key is knowing where to find the answers.

Having benefited from fantastic mentors throughout her own career, Emily now wants to pass on what she’s learned and help fast-track the careers of the next generation of clinical practitioners.

Emily has launched The Confident Clinician, a 10-week program that helps practitioners develop clinical knowledge, confidence and practical skills for clinical practice.

The program supports a range of emerging practitioners, from students preparing to graduate and new practitioners finding their feet to experienced clinicians looking to refine their approach.

The Confident Clinician with Emily Rose Yates commences on 16 November 2026, and vital.ly is sponsoring three scholarships to support the next generation of practitioners.

Scholarship applications close on 29 October 2026 at midnight.

Learn more about The Confident Clinician program and how to apply for one of the three scholarships here: https://www.vital.ly/blog/confident-clinician/

Meet Irene Hunt, Head of Sales at vital.ly.

Like many practitioners, Irene’s own health challenges led her to complementary medicine.

At 17, Irene received a diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis and relied on pain relief to manage everyday activities that most of us take for granted, including simply getting out of bed.

“I worked hard to find an alternative to pharmaceuticals, and ended up on a four-year journey with my studies and my health, which took a significant shift allowing me to not only live a full and relatively pain-free life, but I went from barely being able to walk to enjoy many competitive sports and expedition races! Part of my ‘how far can I take this' mentality.”

Today, as vital.ly’s Head of Sales, Irene leads and supports our team of Practitioner Relationship Managers, drawing on her personal experience and passion for complementary medicine.

“I try to contribute wherever I can to help complementary medicine remain relevant, accessible and impactful for practitioners.”

“I genuinely understand this landscape and am committed to supporting the people at the heart of it. That’s the main part of my role, in a nutshell, so how fortunate am I?! I’m looking forward to learning from the team, connecting with practitioners, and contributing to the continual evolution of a business that is doing such meaningful work.”

And when it comes to her own favourites on vital.ly, Irene always makes room for Nutra Organics Collagen Matcha Latte.

“I need this little luxury in my life.”

Meet Wendy Burke, founder of The Healthy Hormone Naturopath, based in North Lakes, Brisbane.

Wendy’s own health journey led her to naturopathy later in life than many other practitioners.

“After post-natal depression following my first child, I overhauled my lifestyle through exercise and nutrition, losing 40kg and experiencing a profound shift in my overall wellbeing.”

“When I realised how good food and movement made me feel, I wanted to share that with the world so went to study Nutrition. I met some Naturopaths at College and discovered the power of herbs so studied that after Nutrition!”

When she’s not consulting, Wendy enjoys spending time at the gym, sporting one of her many pairs of brightly coloured tights, or keeping up with her two boys.

Two moments in particular make Wendy’s work with clients rewarding.

“Firstly, the moment that you see that they get it. They get what is going on, what the root cause is and what they can do about it. It’s like a light goes on and everything in them changes.”

“Secondly, when they do feel better and you know that you have just helped someone live a happier life. Helping people is the best feeling in the world.”

Wendy believes success looks different for every clinic and practitioner.

“You have to know yourself, your strengths and your challenges. If you can be your authentic self, genuinely hold space for patients and understand yourself well enough to know how to be in flow, then you can be a good practitioner. If you are a good practitioner, you can learn to be a good business owner.”

“I have had lots of mentors over the years that have really helped me understand how to work with my talents to run things my way and not just copy and paste someone else’s protocol for running a clinic.”
