Lifestart supports children and young people living with disability to reach their full potential.

Lifestart provides a range of programs and services for children and young people living with disability, as well as their families and carers, with the aim of helping them live their lives to their fullest potential through increased social inclusion and participation. We offer a range of specialised support streams which include registered NDIS Provider providing therapy and other supports for children and young people aged 0-24, as well as Early Childhood Partner for Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI).

Happy Children's Week! This year, Children's Week celebrates every child’s right to use their own language, celebrate their culture and practise their religion - a theme inspired by Article 30 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.

At Lifestart, we see the strength that comes from embracing diversity and inclusion. Every day, we support children and families from a wide range of cultural backgrounds, helping children build confidence, connection and a sense of belonging as they grow and learn.

This year's Children's Week theme asks us to reflect on the ways we can ensure children's voices are heard and represented in all that we do.

Thriving Kids is a new Australian Government program for families of children aged 8 and under with developmental delay or autism. You don’t need a diagnosis to access supports.
The Thriving Kids website can help you:
- learn about child development
- work out if your child might need extra support
- find trusted information and resources
- connect with supports that suit your child’s needs

Supports available now include an Information and Resources Hub, the Autism Helpline, and a service to speak with an expert about your child’s development.

Lifestart had a wonderful time attending the Ngroo School Readiness Expo last week! We were able to connect with families and share information about how Lifestart supports children and their families as they prepare for their school journey.

Starting school is always an exciting milestone, and events like these provide a great opportunity for families to access information, ask questions and connect with local services. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello and visited us at the Ngroo School Readiness Expo.

This National Carers Week, we're recognising those within our own team who take on roles in their lives as carers, and we're sharing their stories.

One of Renai's proudest memories is celebrating her son Noah's Year 12 graduation. Watching him enjoy the evening and embrace such an important milestone was a moment she'll never forget.

For Renai, being a carer has brought both challenges and rewards. Along the way, she's learned to be a strong advocate, helping her child access the opportunities and support he deserves.

"It's about time carers are recognised for what they do every day. We are strong, resilient and caring, and we help our children shine."

When Tammy first connected with Lifestart, her daughter was preparing to start kindergarten. Today, she's preparing for her HSC, reflecting years of growth, support and determination.

Inspired by her journey as both a parent and School Learning Support Officer, Tammy has written and published I Am Unstoppable and Uniquely Me!, launching in Australia this Saturday.

Drawing on her family's experiences, the book celebrates the resilience of children, the strength of families, and the power of believing in what's possible. We're proud to have been part of Tammy and her daughter's journey and to celebrate this incredible achievement.

At Lifestart, we know the best outcomes happen when children and families are supported by a connected network of professionals working together.

We were delighted to welcome paediatrician Dr Sangeeta Garg to our Rhodes office yesterday. Building strong relationships with healthcare professionals helps ensure families receive coordinated, person-centred support, with access to the right information and services at the right time.

This National Carers Week, we're shining a light on the carers within our own team. By sharing their stories, we want to recognise the commitment, compassion and resilience they bring to the people they support every day.

Today, we're sharing Marina's story.

As a carer for her adult daughter with an intellectual disability and, more recently, for both of her parents, Marina understands the many joys and challenges that come with supporting loved ones.

Seeing her daughter thrive and her parents maintain their independence brings Marina great pride and purpose. But she also knows that carers need support too.

"It's important for carers to have their own village that can support them. I don't think we're meant to carry it all."

Through this year's theme, Care for a carer: making carers visible, we're celebrating carers like Marina and the invaluable role they play every day.
