I ate half a metre of pizza.
My wife’s due to give birth any day now and she wanted Italian, so I took one for the team.
My mother in law’s in town too, so it was a nice excuse to take her out.
I haven’t had pizza in well over a year. I eat real food 95% of the time and the cravings just aren’t there anymore.
Put one in front of me though when I’m hungry, and I’m all in. Great pizza, by the way.
It wasn’t always like this.
When I was competing 12 or 13 years ago, I binged every weekend for about two years. Pizza, a tub of Ben and Jerry’s, a box of cookies. All of it.
Not because I lacked discipline. Because I was cutting everything out during the week, and I rebounded every weekend.
That’s where most people get stuck. They think it’s a willpower problem, so they cut more, try harder, and the belly fat still won’t shift.
You can’t white knuckle your way to a lean, strong body. You need a plan.
Here’s what I do with clients instead:
1. Add in before you take away. More protein and real food first, and the junk naturally falls away because you’re not starving.
2. Eat to build, not to cut. Fuel your muscle and fat loss becomes a side effect. Muscle is the longevity organ, especially after 40.
3. Ingredients over calories. Tracking’s a useful tool, but what you eat decides how much you eat.
That’s why a night like this changes nothing.
I’m breaking down all three, plus the other two levers, in my Lean, Strong & Capable Free Workshop on Wednesday 4 November (US) and Thursday 5 November (Sydney).
It’s for anyone over 40 who’s built something real in their career but let their body and health slip. Last chance to finish this year in control.
DM ‘WORKSHOP’ and I’ll send you the link to register.
