Do you have GUT ROT?
Gut rot is what can happen when food isn’t being properly broken down and digested.
When the gastric glands weaken and hydrochloric acid levels become too low, proteins and fats may not be adequately broken down. Undigested proteins and fats can begin to putrefy and turn rancid in the digestive tract, producing gases including ammonia.
And this can go much further than bloating, gas or nutrient deficiencies.
As these gases build up, ammonia can enter the bloodstream and travel throughout the body. This process is referred to as ammonia permeability, and it can affect the central nervous system, contributing to symptoms such as brain fog, fatigue and difficulty concentrating.
So how do we start addressing gut rot?
We need to look at the bigger picture: strengthening the gastric glands and hydrochloric acid, supporting and restoring the liver, reducing chronic stress and excess adrenaline, improving the diet and supporting healthy digestion and elimination.
This is exactly why I don't look at gut symptoms in isolation.
If you're struggling with bloating, poor digestion, constipation, brain fog or feeling like your gut simply isn't functioning properly, book a naturopathic consultation with Rebekah.
We can look at what's happening with your digestion, liver, diet and lifestyle and create an individual plan to support your body.
Colon hydrotherapy can also be incorporated alongside your naturopathic care to support bowel function and elimination.
