Knowing your risk of breast cancer is one of the most important steps you can take for your health.

If your mother, sister or another close relative has had breast cancer, you may be at higher risk, and the standard public screening program may not be the right fit for you. Women at higher risk often benefit from more personalised screening, and there are services designed specifically to support them.

Our High Risk Clinic at Sydney Breast Clinic offers:
- A personalised breast assessment and individual risk evaluation
- Direct access to further genetic testing, if you’d like to learn more about your risk
- A screening plan tailored to you

Our goal is to give you peace of mind and the best possible chance of early detection.

Today marks the beginning of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Our mission stands throughout the year, but this month is an important opportunity to reflect on all of the people in our lives who have been affected by breast cancer in anyway, whether that be a diagnosis, part of someone's support network, personal passion and advocacy.

We continue to raise awareness about the importance of checking your breasts regularly. Early detection is the best tool we have. Just check them.

Get your breasts checked now before the year comes to an end, and set yourself up for success.

The Sydney Breast Clinic offers Contrast Enhanced Mammography (CEM), a state-of-the-art breast imaging technique.

An intravenous contrast agent is injected immediately prior to your 3D mammogram (tomography) is performed. One image is ‘subtracted’ from the other to create an image of the blood distribution in the breast tissues. CEM improves cancer detection, particularly for those with dense breast tissue, for evaluating
patients with findings that are difficult to resolve, and for further assessing patients with a diagnosis of breast cancer.

Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women aged 20-39, despite standard screening programs offered beyond age 40.

At Sydney Breast Clinic, we are passionate about empowering young women with knowledge of their risks and confidence in their breast health. Our Under 40's Breast Check is designed specifically for women under the age of 40 who are not symptomatic but wanting to take a proactive step toward learning more about themselves and detecting any changes as early as possible.

This subsidised appointment includes a thorough consultation with one of our specialist breast physicians, where you will discuss your risk factors, learn how to check your breasts for concerning changes, undertake any imaging if necessary, and leave with a personalised screening plan for your future.

This service is about education, awareness and building confidence. We believe that knowledge is power, and early detection is the best tool to save lives.

Please contact our friendly team if you have any interest or enquiries about this service, or if you have other breast-related concerns.

Today marks the beginning of Women's Health Week.

This years' theme is "Do it anyway", encouraging even the smallest steps towards improving and maintaining good health. All too often healthcare is pushed down the priority list due to limited time and resources.

This week we want to encourage the message that any contribution towards yourself and your health is a productive choice. Anything from keeping regular with your screening and checkup appointments, to spending some time outdoors or eating well. All efforts serve to maintain and improve your health and wellbeing.

Take this week to check with yourself and what you may need, and visit your doctor if you have any concerns. Early awareness is the greatest peace of mind you can gift yourself.

Did you know that in Australia, 1 in 7 women will develop breast cancer at some point in their lifetime?

It is a scary but true fact. Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among ALL women in Australia, and second only to prostate cancer in the entire population.

Make sure you are regularly checking your own breasts to identify any changes early, and keep up with breast screening and surveillance appointments.

Early detection is the best tool you have for your safety and peace of mind.

Did you know that breast implant-related illness may present similar to a common cold?

Dr David Littlejohn explains the range of symptoms to look out for when you have breast implants. Although these non-specific symptoms may be difficult to distinguish, if you have breast implants they may be an important indication of inflammation and complications.

If you have any concerns about your implants please contact us to be seen by Dr Littlejohn in the Implant Clinic, or be seen by your preferred healthcare professional.

Complications can become more dangerous as they advance, so ensure you are staying alert for any changes in your body and having further investigation if you are worried.

Give yourself peace of mind at SBC.
