Before & after hip traction 🤩

Hip traction is one technique we may use to help manage hip pain and improve comfort with movement.
By applying a controlled pulling force to the hip joint, we can assess how your symptoms and movement respond to treatment.

Every hip is different, which is why treatment should always be guided by your individual assessment and goals.

Experiencing hip pain? Let’s find an approach that works for you.

New baby, sore wrists? It might not just be from getting used to holding your little one.

De Quervain’s tenosynovitis is a condition that causes pain around the thumb and wrist, and it can be common in new parents due to the repetitive movements involved in lifting, feeding and holding a baby.

In this video, Baz breaks it down what to look out for and a few ways to help manage the discomfort.

If your wrist pain is sticking around, it’s worth getting it checked by a physio.

Sitting cross-legged might feel comfortable in the moment, but staying in one position for too long can contribute to stiffness, discomfort and aches.

It’s not about avoiding certain positions altogether. It’s about understanding how your body responds to them and giving yourself a little more movement throughout the day.

Your body loves variety. 💜

Cupping therapy is one of my favourite tools in managing muscle tension and supporting your recovery.

By creating suction against the skin, cupping aims to increase local blood flow and may help provide short-term relief from muscle soreness and tightness.

As with any treatment, it’s about understanding what your body needs and finding the right approach for you. 💜

Another dad life update! Keeping it real…

Something I’ve come to value more and more since becoming a parent is alone time.
Not because I don’t love being around my family, but because having some time to myself gives me the space to reset, recharge and actually show up better when I’m with them.

Being a better partner and a better dad doesn’t mean giving every spare minute away. Sometimes it means recognising when you need a bit of time for yourself, too.

Still figuring it out. Still learning. Just keeping it honest along the way. 💜

“If I had to fix my lower back pain from scratch…”

Baz breaks down exactly where he’d start, what he’d focus on and the steps he’d take to build his back up properly.

Because fixing back pain isn’t just about finding a quick fix, it’s about understanding the problem, building capacity and getting you back to doing what you love.

Watch through for Baz’s approach. 👀

Stability is something we often take for granted… until it’s not there.
As we get older, maintaining strength, balance and stability becomes increasingly important for reducing the risk of falls and keeping you confident on your feet.

Simple, targeted stability exercises can make a big difference to how you move, react and recover when your balance is challenged.

Prevention starts with building a body you can trust. 💜

Physio isn’t always about rehab.

With this client, I used the bent-over row to build work capacity, not because he had a “rowing injury”, but because I wanted to improve his ability to tolerate the physical demands of his day to day life.

The bent-over row challenges strength through the back and shoulders while asking the trunk to maintain a sustained position.

For someone who needs to lift, carry, bend or work in these positions regularly, building that capacity matters.

This is what functional physiotherapy looks like to me.
Not just getting you out of pain, building your ability to do more. 💜

Cramps aren’t always just a sign that you’ve pushed too hard.

Electrolytes play an important role in muscle contraction, nerve signalling and fluid balance, so when they’re out of balance, it can contribute to muscle cramping and reduced performance.

Baz breaks down the role electrolytes can play in cramping, hydration and exercise so you can better understand what your body actually needs.

Because sometimes, it’s not about pushing harder. It’s about understanding the basics.

A small change in running technique can make a big ditterence.
This running assessment looked at heel striking, knee loading and reduced hip extension in a client experiencing right knee pain.

Through targeted cues and gait retraining, we improved hip extension, forward propulsion and foot placement, helping reduce unnecessary load through the knee.

Let’s use this running off-season to get the most out of strengthening your gait and running style. 💜
