I’ve been practising astrology for almost 12 years now professionally, and my biggest piece of advice to anyone seeking a natal chart reading or astrological forecast is to do your research before paying someone to interpret your chart.
Astrology has become increasingly popular, and while I love seeing more people take an interest in this discipline, I am increasingly concerned by the number of self-proclaimed astrologers charging exorbitant fees without the knowledge, experience or education to substantiate them.
🚩 No identifiable education, mentorship or substantial history of independent study
🚩 Charging hundreds of dollars for readings despite having only discovered astrology through social media trends in the last year
🚩 Relying on automated chart interpretations, astrology apps or AI-generated forecasts without understanding the underlying techniques
🚩 Unable to explain the methodology behind their interpretations or demonstrate an understanding of fundamental astrological principles
🚩 Presenting themselves as an authority when their knowledge barely extends beyond popular zodiac stereotypes
And before anyone gets defensive, you do not need a formal qualification to be a competent astrologer. Some of the most knowledgeable practitioners are self-taught, having dedicated years to studying the discipline. Everyone starts somewhere. There is absolutely nothing wrong with being a beginner.
The problem is when beginners market themselves as experts and charge accordingly. Astrology is a serious discipline with centuries of scholarship behind it. It deserves to be treated as such.
A beautiful Instagram feed is not a credential, and a large following does not make someone qualified to interpret your chart
