HealthWISE HealthWISE supports community health at all stages, from child speech pathology to healthy ageing.

We provide primary and allied health services where there are shortages or gaps and provide mental health services across the regions. Our staff also assist in coordinating specialist services where there are none or a specific need. We are also continually developing and providing Aboriginal health programs and services. We strive to change the mindset concerning health by improving access to opportunities to become healthy for those in our service area. We recognise the social determinants of health and the unique characteristics of our region. We believe every person can make choices that result in a healthier self – our purpose is to make those choices easier.

World Menopause Day – 18 October

The average age of menopause in Australia is 51. Menopause can affect everyone differently. Common symptoms include hot flushes, night sweats, mood changes, fatigue, sleep disturbances, and brain fog. 💜

There are several lifestyle changes that may help support your wellbeing during menopause:
🌸 Getting regular exercise for both physical and mental health
🌸 Eating a healthy diet, and keep intake of caffeine and alcohol low
🌸 Avoiding smoking
🌸 Reduce stress where possible
🌸 Talk to loved ones about what you’re going though

Did you know HealthWISE is demystifying menopause through educational events for women and men in our rural communities? Follow our socials to keep an eye out for our next ‘Menoupause is not a dirty word!’ event and read more on our website.

It’s Carers Week 2026 – “Care for a carer: Making carers visible”

National Carers Week is a time to recognise, celebrate and raise awareness of the more than 3 million Australians who provide unpaid care to a family member or friend.

What can you do to support carers:

💜 Ask them about their caring role
💜 Ask them how you can help and encourage them to accept help
💜 Encourage them to chat about their experience if that’s helpful to them
💜 Help them identify peer support groups which can provide social connections, opportunities to talk to people who understand their caring role and provide ideas and knowledge

This year we are encouraging random acts of kindness for carers, aiming to raise awareness to celebrate friend and family carers and foster a more supportive community for those who provide care.
