Consider this your official call-out post. 🛑
That shoulder issue has been paying rent since August. The Achilles is practically begging for mercy. But sure, “after Christmas” is definitely when it magically heals itself. 😉
We love a good holiday delay tactic, but your pain doesn’t take a festive break.
Here are the 4 things we gaslight ourselves into believing just to avoid the treatment table.
👀 Tag a friend who needs to stop making excuses and finally book that appointment. (Or just quietly drop your own favorite excuse in the comments).

Forget ghosts and ghouls—our physios face real nightmares. 👻🎃
We asked our team what actually keeps them up at night, and let’s just say “Dr. Google” makes an appearance. From the sheer panic of treating the wrong side of the body to the ultimate jump scare of a patient cracking their own neck, these are our true horror stories.
👀 Watch until the end to see what terrifies us the most
Happy Halloween from the team! Remember, we’re here to fix the frights in your joints—no tricks, just treatment. 🦴✨

🧠 2 million brain cells die every single minute a stroke goes untreated.
When it comes to a stroke, time is brain. As physiotherapists, we see firsthand how crucial early intervention is for long-term recovery and rehabilitation.
The absolute most critical factor in saving a life is knowing the signs. Memorise the B.E. F.A.S.T. acronym to act quickly:
• B – Balance: Sudden loss of balance, dizziness, or trouble walking.
• E – Eyes: Sudden vision changes, blurred or lost vision.
• F – Face: One side of the face droops or feels numb when smiling.
• A – Arms: One arm feels weak, numb, or drifts downward.
• S – Speech: Slurred speech, trouble speaking, or confusion.
• T – Time: Call 000 immediately.
A stroke can happen to anyone, anywhere. If you spot even one of these signs, don’t wait and see.
🚨 Call 000 immediately.

You don't need to be training for the next HYROX. You just need to be able to race your kids at the park without pulling a hammy. 😂

If you're in your 40s (or beyond), strength training isn't about becoming a gym ju**ie, lifting ridiculous weights or suddenly developing a personality based entirely around protein intake. 💪

It's about being able to:

⚽ Accept your kids' challenge to a game of soccer without spending the next three days regretting it.

🛒 Carry all the groceries inside in ONE trip. Because two trips is obviously unacceptable.

🏖️ Enjoy holidays, hikes and adventures without constantly wondering whether your knees will cope.

🏃 Chase after the kids (or grandkids!) without feeling like you've just completed an Olympic event.

🙌 Keep doing the things you love for as long as possible.

Because as we get older, maintaining muscle and strength becomes increasingly important for our bones, balance and long-term independence.

And the good news? You don't have to become obsessed with the gym to get the benefits. Unlike self confessed gym ju**ies Dave and Cassie, apparently. 🤦‍♀️😂

Strength training after 40 isn't about becoming an athlete. It's about making sure your body can keep up with your life. 💚

👇 Send this to someone who thinks strength training is just for gym people!

Your back hurts. Should you stop moving until it goes away? 🤔
The simple answer is No!
Often, complete rest isn’t the answer. But the right amount and type of movement will depend on what’s happening, but staying gently active can often be part of recovery from common musculoskeletal back pain. That might mean temporarily changing the load, range or type of exercise rather than stopping everything.
If your pain is severe, worsening, moving away from your back down your legs or you’re unsure what’s appropriate, get it assessed.

Thongs season is officially back. ☀️ And yes — your Physio has opinions about them. 😂

Because in Queensland, thongs aren't just footwear. They're practically a year-round uniform.

But if you're going to live in them for the next six months (or let's be honest… year round right ), why not give your feet a little extra support?

🩴 Meet Archies — thongs and slides with built-in arch support, designed for everyday comfort without sacrificing that easy, slip-on convenience we all love.

And just in time for the warmer weather, we've got some gorgeous new colours joining the range! 💙💚

Whether you're heading to the beach, doing the school pickup or ducking out for a coffee, they're an easy addition to your spring and summer wardrobe.

Available at Activate Physiotherapy, Tingalpa and Stafford. Pop in and ask our friendly team to show you the range!

Physio or Exercise Physiologist? 🤔

It's a question we hear more often than you might think... and the answer isn't always as straightforward as you'd expect.

Both professionals can help with injury rehabilitation, strength, movement and getting back to the activities you love.

One of the main differences is that a physio is trained to clinically assess your for the purpose of diagnosing what's going on but both professionals use exercise to assist with treatment and recovery.

And some of us are both - dual qualified Physios and Exercise Physiologists. So we thought we'd let you in on a little secret: you don't necessarily need to finish with a physio and move on to an EP to complete your rehab!

Physiotherapists can guide you from that first injury assessment right through to rebuilding strength and returning to exercise, work or sport. 💪

At Activate, exercise-based rehabilitation is a big part of what all of our team do.

👉 Swipe through to understand the differences, and save this one for the next time you're wondering who to see.

The BIGGEST mistake people make in rehab... 🫣

Your pain has settled GREAT! But TBH I'm a bit annoyed with you (sorry, not sorry)
If your goal is returning to running, gym, sport or a physically demanding life, there is another critical step, you've totally missed out on... rebuilding capacity!
Building capacity is essential for you to progress from restoring comfortable movement → building strength → increasing load → practising the demands of your daily life → all the way through to getting back to high level activities like sport.
The goal isn’t simply to have ‘no pain today’ (although that is totally what we hope you'll achieve). It’s helping your body cope with what you want it to do tomorrow and beyond that.

Menopause is a transition, not a pause button. ⏳➡️

Today is World Menopause Day, a reminder that while changing hormones can impact your muscles and joints, pain shouldn’t force you to the sidelines.

You don't need to stop being active. You just need a plan that includes:
1️⃣ Understanding your symptoms
2️⃣ Maintaining appropriate movement
3️⃣ Progressively building strength
Persistent pain? Let's figure it out together. An individual assessment can separate what needs specific attention from what you can safely work through.
