The Aetherial Collective A mother & daughter, making space for what it is to be human ✨
For the chats, the laughs, the healing, the messy bits and everything in between.

Because being human is all of it β€” the highs, the lows, the beauty, the mess. All the moments that shape us. The Aetherial Collective is a community of qualified life coaches, mentors and healers, led by our founders Carmel & Emily Standen. Every person who offers their services on this page, is personally known to, and vetted by us.

Sometimes we become so focused on everything we need to do, achieve or improve that we overlook the little things that make life feel good.

The warmth of the sun on our skin, a conversation where nobody is watching the clock, a walk without a destination, or simply sitting quietly with a cup of tea.

These moments might seem insignificant, but they can make a real difference to how we feel as we move through our days.

And perhaps one of the nicest things about them is that we don’t need to earn them by being productive first.

What’s one of life’s simple pleasures that always makes you feel good?

New article over on Substack!

Exploring the quiet pressure to keep growing, healing and becoming, and what happens when we allow ourselves to simply live.

Have you ever looked at something you once loved and realised it no longer interests you? Or found yourself questioning choices and priorities that made perfect sense a few years ago?

Sometimes we spend so much time trying to understand why we don’t feel like our old selves that we overlook the possibility that we’ve simply changed.

And perhaps that’s not something we need to resist.

What feels important to you now that didn’t matter quite so much before?

It’s interesting how becoming more aware of ourselves can change the way we experience everyday life.

Sometimes that awareness brings greater understanding, clarity and freedom. Other times, we start noticing patterns, reactions and feelings that we might never have questioned before, which can make things feel a little more complicated!

I’m curious whether you’ve experienced both sides of this, or whether it’s been quite different for you.

For so much of our lives, we identify ourselves through what we do and who we are to other people. We’re mothers, partners, daughters, professionals, carers and the people everyone knows they can depend upon.

But what happens when those roles begin to change?

Sometimes we realise we’ve spent so long meeting expectations and fulfilling responsibilities that we’re no longer quite sure what we enjoy, what we want or who we are outside of it all.

Have you ever found yourself asking, β€œWhat about me?”

When was the last time you gave yourself permission to stop looking after everything and everyone else, even for just half an hour?

Sometimes we’re so accustomed to being the ones who hold everything together that we forget what it feels like to simply receive a little care ourselves.

Even when we finally have some time to rest, our minds are often still busy with everything that needs doing, the people who need us and the responsibilities waiting for our attention.

But what if, just for a little while, none of that needed anything from you?

That’s why I created Aetherial Harmony.

It’s a gentle, restorative experience combining multidimensional energy healing, crystal sound bowls, breathwork and subtle somatic practices, offering you a quiet space to pause, settle and reconnect with yourself.

There’s nothing you need to work through, no particular outcome to achieve and no expectation of what you should feel or experience.

You might notice warmth, tingling, emotions or a deep sense of relaxation. Or you might simply enjoy having thirty minutes where you don’t have to do or be anything for anyone.

And sometimes, that opportunity to simply be is exactly what we’ve been needing.

If you’ve been feeling the need for a little time that’s entirely yours, I’d love to welcome you.

One of the interesting things about becoming more self-aware is that we can also become more critical of ourselves.

We notice our reactions, our habits, the things we say and the choices we make, and sometimes we begin expecting ourselves to know better in every situation.

But understanding ourselves doesn’t mean we’ll always get everything right.

We’re still learning through experience, and sometimes the most meaningful growth comes from how we respond to ourselves when things don’t go as planned.

When was the last time you gave yourself permission to simply sit and listen?

Not to meditate perfectly, clear your mind or achieve anything in particular. Just to be present with the sounds around you and notice how you feel.

Here’s a little moment of handpan music from Emily, for anyone who could use a gentle pause in their day.

Take what you need from it. πŸ’—

Some days we feel motivated, inspired and ready to explore all the possibilities life has to offer. Other days, even the simplest things can feel like an enormous effort.

And somewhere along the way, many of us have learned to judge those quieter, more difficult days as something we need to overcome. We start questioning why we’re feeling this way, what we should be doing differently, or what we still need to work on within ourselves.

But not everything we experience needs to become another opportunity for self-improvement.

Sometimes we’re tired. Sometimes life has been demanding. Sometimes we’re simply having a difficult day, and that’s part of being human too.

There’s nothing wrong with being curious about ourselves and wanting to grow, but I wonder whether we’ve become so focused on personal development that we’ve forgotten how to simply allow ourselves to be.

Perhaps today doesn’t need another solution. Perhaps it simply needs a little understanding.

Do you ever catch yourself feeling like you should be doing something productive with every difficult emotion?
