Everyone deserves time to be heard.

Today is International Stuttering Awareness Day. “Shades of Stuttering – What’s yours?” recognises that each person’s experience is different.

Small actions can make conversations more welcoming:

• Let people finish their own words.
• Focus on what the person is saying.
• Avoid advice such as “slow down” or “relax.”

At Able Haven, inclusion means respecting how each person communicates.

In your next conversation, listen without rushing.

An invoice question can start with one sentence:

“Could you explain this item and how the amount was worked out?”

Clear information helps you stay involved in how your NDIS funding is used. If you’re plan-managed, your plan manager can help with payment questions.

Before we talk about services, let's talk about what matters to you.

At Able Haven, we believe great support starts with understanding you as a person. Your goals, choices, routines and what makes each day meaningful.

We take the time to understand what works for you, so the support you receive respects your decisions, strengthens your independence and fits naturally into your life.

Because the right support should fit your life, not the other way around.

We welcome enquiries and referrals from NDIS participants, families and support coordinators across Townsville.

💬 Looking for support that puts you first? Let's start a conversation.

Progress looks different for everyone.

For some, it's learning a new skill. For others, it's making their own decisions, growing in confidence or becoming more connected to their community.

There is no single measure of success. What matters is moving towards the goals that are meaningful to you, at your own pace.

At Able Haven, support starts with what matters to you. Your choices, your goals and the life you want to lead.

Because meaningful progress is personal.

🦯 International White Cane Day | 15 October 2026

💙 A white cane is more than a mobility tool. It represents independence, confidence and freedom.

Today, we celebrate the rights, achievements and independence of people who are blind or have low vision.

True inclusion means removing barriers, respecting choices and ensuring everyone can navigate their community with dignity.

At Able Haven, we believe independence should be supported, never limited.

💙 Accessibility is not a privilege. It is a right.

Together, let's build a more accessible and inclusive Townsville.

Communication is more than speech. 💙

Sharing a joke. Asking for help. Saying “no.”
Everyone deserves a way to be understood.

October is AAC Awareness Month. Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) includes gestures, signs, picture boards and communication devices used alongside speech or instead of it.

At Able Haven, we take time to learn how each person communicates, give them space to respond and respect what they have to say.

Swipe through for simple AAC examples, everyday communication tips and what the NDIS may help fund.

💙 Allied Health Professions Day | 14 October

Allied health: For everyone, everywhere.

Today, we’re celebrating allied health professionals across our community, including all those who work alongside Able Haven to support our participants.

Your expertise and our everyday support come together around each participant’s goals. That teamwork can help someone express a need, prepare a meal or take part in a community activity with greater confidence.

Each person’s choices, strengths and pace guide how we work together.

To our allied health partners: thank you for your care, knowledge and teamwork. We value your partnership.

Everyday goals deserve thoughtful support.

Getting to a favourite activity. Making a meal. Starting the day at your own pace.

At Able Haven, you guide the support: where help would be useful and what you’d like to do yourself. We provide practical NDIS assistance at home and in the community.

Contact our Townsville team to discuss a referral and current availability.
