1. I stopped thinking I just needed to WORK HARDER

Working harder often meant sacrificing my health - less sleep, more pushing, and expecting myself to just keep going.

Discovering my Fat Loss Archetype helped me uncover what was really getting in the way of fat loss, beyond nutrition and exercise, and the pattern that kept showing up when I was stressed, tired or life got hard.

{Comment QUIZ and I’ll send you my free quiz to discover your Fat Loss Archetype}

2. I stopped trying to fast my way lean

I don’t fast beyond 14 hours.

I eat my first meal within 1–2 hours of waking and prioritise 30–50g of protein.

Waiting until I’m ravenous makes everything harder.

3. I hydrate before I caffeinate

Water before coffee.

I add lemon and a pinch of Celtic salt. Simple habit that helps me start the day hydrated and changed my energy considerably.

4. I stopped training x5–6 times p/wk and started moving more

I’m a mum of two, my husband and I both run businesses, and cramming more workouts into my week isn’t sustainable.

I strength train x3 p/wk and prioritise steps. Walking helps me clear my head and make staying lean easier without exhausting me.

5. I stopped prioritising what didn’t keep me full for longer

Less protein bars, protein yoghurts and low-calorie snacks.

I still eat them occasionally, but for the most part I prioritise whole-food protein (meat, eggs, fish) and meals that fill me up.

I’m more satisfied, no food noise, and don’t need to pick or snack between meals.

6. I changed WHEN I eat my carbs

I feel better starting the day with 30–50g protein, healthy fats and fibre mainly from fruit and vegetables.

I still eat potato, rice and other complex carbs every day - post training and with dinner.

7. I treat sleep as part of my plan

Better sleep makes hunger, cravings, training, recovery, energy and food choices easier.

I can tell you all 7 things I do.

But the game-changer is understanding what YOU need - and what keeps getting in the way.

And that’s the part calorie counting won’t show you.

Comment QUIZ and I’ll send you my Fat Loss Archetype Quiz to uncover your biggest block to fat loss and what you can do starting today.

I’m 41. And I eat more than most women half my age.

I’m a BHSc nutritionist specialising in fat loss and personal transformation for women over 35.

Here are 5 things I changed that helped me get lean, and now make staying lean, strong, & energised easier.

1. I stopped training to burn calories and focused on building muscle & getting strong.

I’m not trying to “work off” what I ate. I strength train because muscle matters for how feel, my metabolic & hormone health, & I personally love looking fit & strong 😜

2. I stopped thinking walking didn’t count - and started moving more.

It’s not always one big walk. I use 5–10 minute bursts throughout my day to move, get outside, reset and clear my head.

3. I stopped counting calories.

But I’m not guessing. I understand calories and macros, so I know what I need and how to build meals that support my goals. Tracking can be used as a short term tool - but it’s not necessary to get lean & stay lean.

4. I started strategically eating carbs.

Potatoes. Fruit. Rice. Sourdough.

I eat carbs post training, with dinner, and fruit with each meal. They support my training, recovery, energy and sleep.

5. I stopped waiting for life to get easier - and changed what I did when it wasn’t.

I stopped making food - or my life - the problem and started paying attention to what I did next.

The “f it eating”.
Restricting hard the next day.
Turning one moment of eating into writing off the rest of the week.

Getting lean when life is easier is one thing.

Knowing how to live when it’s not is what changes everything.

Because if food noise, cravings and inconsistency keep showing up when life gets hard and your week doesn’t go to plan, there’s more to getting lean than just diet & training.

Comment PATTERN and I’ll send you my free quiz to uncover what’s really getting in the way of your fat loss, and feeling lean & energised.

📌 Save this if you’re done believing getting leaner means eating less, exercising harder and trying to be perfect.

I watched Nick Daicos’ Brownlow speech with my 8-year-old and this is the part I hope stays with him.

That the work isn’t only in the physical.

Learning how to question your thoughts, filter the noise, and manage what’s happening inside your own head is part of the reps too.

Nick spoke about being an overthinker and journalling for 20 minutes every night since he was 16.

And I loved hearing that with my son sitting beside me.

Because that’s something I want both my boys to learn.

You are not your thoughts and they aren’t automatically facts.

The stories you tell yourself matter.

And you can question them rather than letting them decide who you are and what you’re capable of.

Because by the time many women come to work with me in their 40s, they’ve had decades to collect stories about themselves.

“I’ve got no willpower.”

“I always fall off.”

“I can’t trust myself around food.”

“I don’t have time for myself.”

“I always struggle with my weight.”

Repeat a story for long enough and it can stop feeling like a story.

It becomes a belief.

That belief starts driving patterns.

And those patterns start shaping the choices you make every day.

That’s a big part of the work I do with women wanting to look and feel better.

We rewrite the stories that are no longer serving you.

We rewire the patterns those stories have been driving.

And we retrain how they show up until the new way starts to become part of who you are.

Having decades of stories doesn’t mean you’re stuck with them for the rest of your life too.

You can get curious.

Where did this story come from?

Is it actually true?

Is it even mine?

And what might become possible if I stopped letting it decide what I’m capable of?

If you’re serious about getting leaner, stronger, healthier, having more energy and feeling great within yourself again, DM me FAST TRACK.

We’ll chat about what you want to change, and whether the work I do is the right fit for you.

You can be disciplined enough to build a career.

Ambitious enough to chase big goals.

Self-aware enough to know exactly what you’re doing.

Smart enough to understand nutrition.

Capable enough to hold a lot at one time.

And still find yourself standing in the kitchen after dinner eating when you’re not hungry.

That contradiction is something I see ALL the time in high-achieving women over 35.

Because the traits that help you succeed in one area of your life can play out very differently when you’re stressed, exhausted, disappointed or carrying too much.

Pushing harder.

Expecting more from yourself.

Overthinking.

Holding everything and everyone.

Then needing some relief from all of it.

And sometimes that relief becomes food. W**e. Switching off. Saying “f**k it” and promising yourself you’ll start again tomorrow.

This is why I approach fat loss differently.

Yes, I want to understand what’s happening in your body.

Your metabolism. Hormones. Blood sugar and insulin regulation. Sleep. Recovery. Muscle mass.

But I also want to understand what’s happening underneath your behaviour.

The stories you’re running.

The standards you’re holding yourself to.

The patterns that show up when you’re stressed, exhausted or things don’t go to plan.

Because the right fat-loss strategy for you needs to be built around both.

You can keep trying to control the food, push harder and find another nutrition plan to follow…

Or you can get curious about what your body needs AND what keeps pulling you back into the same cycle.

Then build the strategy from there.

If you’re SERIOUS about feeling leaner, stronger, healthier and energised, drop me a comment or DM with the words “FAST TRACK” and let’s chat.

Why your fat-loss plan keeps failing you.

If you’re a woman over 35 and you’ve ever thought, “I know what to do. I just can’t seem to keep doing it,” this is for you.

You probably don’t need more information about what to eat.

You know protein matters.
You know how to build a pretty healthy meal.
And hopefully you know you can still eat potatoes, rice and fruit and lose weight.

But knowing what to do and being able to keep doing it when you’re stressed, tired, travelling, eating out or life gets busy are two very different things.

And that’s where I see so many women get stuck.

They assume they need a better diet.

More rules. More tracking. More discipline.

When sometimes, food and their diet isn’t where the real leak is.

If you keep stress eating after a sh*tty day, overeating on weekends or starting again every Monday, another meal plan isn’t going to change the pattern driving that behaviour.

And simply counting calories can’t patch a leak that didn’t start with food…

If you want to get leaner, stronger and feel like yourself again, comment BASICS and I’ll send you The Lean 5 - the five foundations I start with every client.

Mel had been into health + fitness since she was 16.

Gyms. PTs. F45. Running. Calorie counting…

You name it, she’d tried just about everything.

But at 47, she told me she felt completely lost.

The food noise was LOUD.
She didn’t like what she saw in the mirror.

And she genuinely thought:
“This is my last shot.”

Fast forward to now and Mel is 8kg down + the food noise is gone.

But that’s not even the biggest gain.

It’s the appreciation she now has for herself + her body.

The self-respect.

Feeling worthy of good things.

In her exact words:
“This is my forever life.”

Yes, we supported her metabolism + hormones.

Yes, she had a nutrition strategy to lose weight sustainably without counting calories.

Yes, she had a training program designed to build muscle + change her body composition.

But Mel didn’t need another 12 weeks of someone just telling her what to eat + how to train.

She needed to learn how to make this work for her LIFE forever.

And I think this is where so many women get stuck.

You can follow the plan while you have a coach.

You can be “perfect” for 12 weeks and get a great result.

But what happens when the 12 weeks are over?

Or when you travel?

When work gets hectic?

When life does what life does?

If you only know how to get results when someone else is telling you EXACTLY what to do, how are you supposed to maintain them when they’re not around?

And THAT’S why I believe great coaching shouldn’t create dependency.

It should help you build the skills so you can eventually lead yourself.

The goal was never just to help Mel lose 8kg.

It was to help her stop identifying as the woman who was always trying to lose weight… and become the woman who knows how to live this way.

Which is why hearing her say:
“This program changes who you are.”

…means so much more to me than any number on the scales.

If you’re ready to stop chasing short-term results + start building something you can actually sustain, comment BASICS and I’ll send you The Lean 5 - the five essential fat loss foundations we started with.

If you’re over 40 and you’re hearing…

Eat more protein.
Lift weights.
Hit your steps.
Get more sleep.

And you’re thinking…

“I AM doing those things. So why am I still not getting to where I want to be?”

There’s a part to fat loss and getting in shape over 40 that nobody has taught you.

Because there’s a BIG difference between approaching fat loss as the woman who’s always trying to lose weight…and embodying the woman who stays in shape year-round.

Let me explain.

The version of you trying to lose weight has thoughts like:

“6 weeks. Let’s go”
“I’ll be stricter.”
“I can’t eat that.”
“Once I lose the weight, THEN I can relax more & eat what I want.”

So you hit your calories.
Train 5x a week.
Get your 10k steps.
Ditch the alcohol.
Start to see the scales shift.

And it works…until life throws you something unexpected.

Suddenly you can’t do it perfectly anymore.

And it all starts to become too hard.

But the version of you who is in shape year-round, the woman you embody now on your fat loss journey, approaches things very differently.

She’s not thinking:

“How much can I do to get this weight off as quickly as possible?”

She’s thinking:

“What can I do consistently that moves the needle and I see myself doing a year from now?”

Because 3 training sessions you can consistently do, beats planning 5, missing two, and constantly feeling like you’ve failing…and then spiralling.

After more than a decade helping women with fat loss, one of the biggest patterns I see isn’t women doing too little.

It’s women trying to do TOO MUCH for 6 weeks and then the wheels fall off.

You don’t need another perfect 6-week sprint.

You need to approach fat loss like the woman who plans on being in shape forever.

And that starts with 5 foundations.

Comment BASICS and I’ll send you The Lean 5 - the five foundations I start every client with who want to lose 5-20kg, get stronger, & feel like YOU again.
