“Neurodiversity-affirming” appears on a lot of provider listings now, including mine. What it means to practise in an affirming way continues to be discussed and developed across research and professional spaces, so I’ve shared the framework I’ve found most useful so far, from Lerner, Gurba and Gassner (2023).

A point I often circle back to is the second: affirming practice isn’t the same as “looking on the bright side.” The hard parts are usually why a family gets in touch, and they deserve to be taken seriously.

It’s just two weeks until Harmoni OT launches! 🌱

I’m now accepting a small number of referrals ahead of opening for self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants, as well as fee-for-service families. You can find out more about Harmoni OT or make a referral via the link in my bio.

My working days will be Thursdays and Fridays, and I’ll acknowledge your referral within two of my working days (approximately one week).

I've been quiet the last couple of weeks, with my head down in the less glamorous parts of establishing a new practice: professional development, assessments, policies, forms, and getting the practice management software talking to itself properly.

I'll resume typical posts shortly - for the last two weeks before launch! 🎉✨

But I wanted to share something exciting before things go back to normal...

I'm now an affiliate member of the League of Autistic Psychologists and Affirming Colleagues (LOAPAC)!

LOAPAC is a registry of practitioners committed to neurodiversity affirming practice. Families and referrers can find me there - it is one way that I demonstrate how I take affirming practice seriously.

The countdown is on! 🎉

Harmoni OT is offering services in the Bundaberg region from October 1st, 2026.
We’ll be offering paediatric occupational therapy for neurodivergent children and adolescents - operating mobile on Thursdays (home, school, or community), and in-clinic on Fridays.
