Today is . A day to acknowledge and recognise the strength of Stolen Generations survivors, their families, and communities. It's also an opportunity to reflect on how we can all play a part in the healing process for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in our community, including restoring the wellbeing, strength of spirit and family connections.

If you or someone you know needs support, remember help is available 24/7 via 13 Yarn (13 92 76), the national crisis support line for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Lifeline WA pays its respects to the traditional custodians across the lands in which we operate, and we acknowledge their elders past, present, and future.

Week of Mental Health

This week is National Carers Week, a time to recognise and celebrate the 2.65 million Australians who provide care and support to a loved one. Caring for a loved one with dementia can be, at times, challenging. But there are many ways to find hope and for the October Library Pick of the Month, the Dementia Australia Librarians have chosen this resource to help and inspire carers.

In ‘Loving Someone Who Has Dementia’, Dr Pauline Boss outlines how to manage ongoing stress and grief. She outlines seven guidelines to stay resilient while caring for someone who lives with dementia and discusses the meaning of relationships with individuals who are cognitively impaired. This is a great resource for carers, family members and friends, as well as educators and professionals.

You can find this resource as both an ebook and an audiobook, along with other resources for carers, in our Library Guide at https://dementia-org.libguides.com/Dementia_and_Your_Caring_Role
