Proposed NDIS Changes & Thriving Kids
You may have heard about the proposed changes to the NDIS and the introduction of the new Thriving Kids initiative. Thriving Kids is a joint federal–state initiative that proposes to move children aged 0–8 years with mild to moderate developmental delays or Autism off the NDIS (federally funded supports) and into state‑based supports.
A key concern for families in regional areas is the already limited access to allied health services. Under the current proposal, private practitioners would be excluded from providing services through Thriving Kids. This means many children may be left without the early intervention supports they require, simply because the local workforce is not large enough to meet demand.
Our local Members of Parliament, Michael McCormack and Joe McGirr, have made themselves available to hear directly from families. They are inviting parents and carers to share their experiences and concerns so they can better understand the impact on our community.
🗓 Wednesday 17 June 2026
⏰ 2:00pm – 3:00pm

If these changes may affect your child’s supports, this is an opportunity to have your voice heard and ensure decision‑makers understand the realities faced by families in regional NSW. If you are unable to attend the face-to-face meeting, please consider contacting them directly.
