♿🏠 GOOD NEWS FOR ROCKINGHAM’S DISABILITY COMMUNITY

🏠 18 disability accommodation and social housing properties in Rockingham have now been refurbished, with a focus on making homes more accessible and comfortable for tenants.

The upgrades were delivered by Rocky Bay through a $2.4 million State Government grant and included:

💛 Wider doorframes
🧡 Accessible light and power switches
💛 Improved bathroom and kitchen cabinetry and storage
🧡 General upgrades to improve accessibility and extend the life of the homes

🏠 🦽 It’s great to see investment going into making local housing more accessible and suitable for people with disabilities in our Rockingham community.

🎁 💜 This year, Aspire disABILITY is proud to be supporting the Zonta House Christmas Appeal, collecting new and unwrapped gifts for women, children and families supported by Zonta House Refuge Association.

🎁 From self-care items and gifts for women, to toys, activities and gifts for children and teens, every donation can help make Christmas that little bit brighter.

Gift vouchers are also a wonderful option for families to choose something they need or enjoy.

💙 COMMUNITY EVENT | Seniors and Carers Expo

We’re sharing this upcoming City of Rockingham Seniors and Carers Expo for anyone in our community who may be interested.

📅 Friday 9 October 2026
⏰ 10am – 2pm
📍 Mike Barnett Sports Complex, Dixon Road, Rockingham

It’s a FREE day out with more than 120 stalls showcasing local services, supports, community groups, health providers and activities.

There’ll also be performances and presentations, free activities and refreshments, roving entertainment and plenty to see throughout the day. Grandchildren are welcome and mobility aids will be available at the event.

💙 No registration is required and the event aims to be inclusive and dementia-friendly.

💚 ☹️ Dementia is now Australia’s leading cause of death, with around 446,500 Australians living with dementia and more than 1.7 million people involved in their care.

🧠🗣️Yet dementia can still be difficult to talk about. Starting a conversation can help increase understanding, reduce stigma and discrimination, and connect people and families with the support they need.
