When everything feels like too much, pushing harder isn’t always the answer.

Sometimes, your nervous system needs less — less pressure, less stimulation and more space to regulate.

As Lead Psychologist Cheryl Gale explains, feeling overwhelmed isn’t a lack of effort. It can be a sign that your capacity is already stretched.

Swipe through for a couple of simple ways to support your nervous system when you’re feeling overloaded. 🤍

Back to school can be a big adjustment — especially when school feels overwhelming.

As Term 4 gets underway, some children may find the return to school particularly difficult. School refusal can show up as anxiety, tears, physical complaints or strong distress when school is mentioned.

The important thing is to look beyond the behaviour and try to understand what’s making school feel difficult for your child.

A simple question to start the conversation: “If you could change one thing about school, what would it be?”

Their answer might help you uncover what’s sitting underneath the distress.

And if you’re not sure where to start, you don’t have to navigate it alone. Our Psychology team can support children and families to understand what’s happening and develop strategies to help. Call the clinic on 5298 1147 to book an appointment today!

Our Principal Podiatrist and Director, Daniel, recently took to the (digital) stage as a keynote speaker at the Digital Foot & Ankle Show — a leading Professional Development Conference for podiatrists, foot health practitioners and lower limb healthcare professionals.

Daniel presented on Complex Pain Presentations, drawing on both his lived experience with chronic pain and more than two decades of clinical experience to help practitioners around the world build their skills in complex pain consultations.

We’re so proud of Dan and grateful to the for the opportunity. 🌏

Here’s a little snippet from his presentation.

👋 Meet Elishia Harding, the newest Psychologist to join the Proactive Health & Movement team!

We’re also excited to announce that we’re now offering Child Psychology Services, with Elishia welcoming children under 11 years of age.

Elishia brings a warm, collaborative and trauma-informed approach to her work, supporting both adults and children through anxiety, stress, low mood, life changes and other challenges.

When working with children, Elishia places the therapeutic relationship at the centre of her approach, creating a safe, accepting and playful space where children can express themselves in ways that feel natural to them. She also works collaboratively with parents and families to support connection, regulation and positive change at home.

We’re so pleased to welcome Elishia to the team and to expand the Psychology services we can offer our community. 🌿

Interested in making an appointment with Elishia? Call the clinic on 5298 1147 to book.

Therapy doesn’t only happen in the therapy room. 🤍

The time between sessions can be an opportunity to notice patterns, practise what you’ve discussed, make space for your feelings and be kind to yourself along the way.

Save this as a gentle reminder for between your sessions.
