I have been on the healing journey for decades, but still there are different layers that pop up. This is me sharing with you …..being the change I wish to see in the world. This is me processing, and releasing, and hence healing what has been stored within me for over 30 years. The aspect of me that wanted to be seen and much more.
To the teenage me …
Fk yeah you were tough, you held up to some s**t during those years. I see you, I’m so proud of you.
I see how devastated you were, when your world collapsed, being told you could never play sport again. That your knee was like an 80 year olds, your world feel apart. Your silent pain, yet you kept smiling.
I saw you during those tough times. The media, the drama, the messy family break up and all the crap inbetween. It was brutal. You took on shame, embarrassment, anger, all the while fear hid in the background.
You moved out of home in you final year of school. Babysat in exchange for board with family friends. I saw the grades drop , and you fight to get them back on track . I saw your tears and heart break at the struggle. Yet you still smiled until you couldn’t any longer.
I see you now, how strong you had to be, and no one saw, no one seemed to witness or acknowledge you. But I saw you.
You didn’t let it harden you. Your wisdom let your heart stay soft and open. You were powerful.
At times I wished I was you. When I couldn’t hold things together , I wanted to be as strong as you. As brave as you. As together as you.
I don’t think I’ve been like you since.
You see it broke me. It silenced me, it defeated me, all in small and different ways.
I’m here to say , you were amazing during those years.
I love you.
I saw how you were
You didn’t harden, you didn’t shut people out.
You did what you had to, looked after your own well being.
I’m proud of you, and you are safe. Safe to relax, to be seen, to be judged, to be wrong, to be right, to exists, to take up space, to shine, to lead, to be bold and brave. You see you don’t need to protect me anymore. I’ve healed so so many layers, to get to you. But I found you. I found your pain, I remember. But now we come home to each other. As one.
You are safe. Let me hug you. I will protect you. Come with me. I love you.
