Four years ago I stepped into birth work through photographyโฆ and it changed me forever.
Even though I had already given birth four times myself, witnessing another woman bring her baby earthside, holding space, documenting the strength in her eyes, the vulnerability, the power, awakened something deeper in me.
Birth is not just a medical event.
It is emotional. It is physiological. It is transformative.
As a doula and birth photographer, my role isnโt to replace your care provider. Itโs to protect your space.
โจ Continuous support has been shown to:
โข Reduce the likelihood of intervention
โข Shorten labour
โข Increase satisfaction with the birth experience
โข Lower rates of cesarean and assisted births
But beyond statisticsโฆ itโs about something even more important.
Itโs about a woman feeling:
โ Heard
โ Safe
โ Informed
โ Supported without judgement
I have now supported and captured 7 births, and every single one has reinforced why this work matters.
Birth deserves reverence.
Mothers deserve advocacy.
Families deserve to remember how powerful they truly are.
Life has been full, and like many mothers building a dream around family life, Iโve moved gently and intentionally. But this year, Iโm making space for what sets my soul on fire.
Because supporting women in birth isnโt just something I do, itโs something I deeply believe in.
