Thinking Thursday!

We've touched on the fact more than once that movement/exercise is mostly a mental attitude, and the rest is physical.

This doesn't mean I'm going insane by posting this today, don't worry πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Your mental health is of vital importance and I can tell you from personal experience that the less you move, the more you are likely to sit and overthink. Keeping active is a great stress reliever!

Additionally, you'll see I have showcased four of my favourite hobbies that keep me centred, engaged and mentally strong, plus allow me much needed down time!

A healthy break from the fast pace of life can include:

Reading - this is an excellent book by the way!

Art - leopards are my favourite to study and draw

Piano - our beloved baby grand, a gift from my late Mum in Law. This piano will be 100 years old soon and has given us many hours of pleasure and beautiful music (weelll...ahem...it depends who is playing it of course! Lol! πŸ˜‚)

Gardening - you don't have to have green fingers to enjoy the benefits of connecting with the Earth. Touching the soil with your bare hands and feet (the latter is known as 'grounding') is an instant mood lifter.

I hope these ideas will help someone today!

Have a happy hobby-filled day! 😁

Wellness Wednesday!

Rest time! No - that doesn't mean I'm telling you not to exercise 😝, it simply means that the rest you get between sets is just as important as the exercise itself.

As in the picture above - and yes, I cheated today and used a great idea from Fit Frenzy Fitness Centre πŸ˜€, you will see a chart detailing what to do, and when.

Remember that rest is not only for weight lifters, but every fitness discipline.

Feel free to message me with any questions!

Have a fit but rest-full day today!

Tuesday Tips!

In our part of the world it's very hot at present. We need to be mindful of adequate water intake to avoid heatstroke, dehydration and so on. But how much water should we take, daily?

Here are some facts about hydrating:

Body weight is a popular and useful rule of thumb for estimating water needs, though there is no single official medical formula set in stone.

Common Body Weight Guidelines

The "Half-Body-Weight" Rule: Many wellness sources suggest taking your body weight in pounds and drinking that number divided in half as fluid ounces per day (for example, a 150-pound person would aim for about 75 ounces, or roughly 2.2 liters).

The Metric Guideline: Some scientific and nutrition guidelines recommend roughly 35 ml of water per kilogram of body weight daily (for example, a 70 kg person needs about 2.4 liters).

Standard Health Recommendations: Major health organizations like the Mayo Clinic look at total daily fluid intake rather than strict weight formulas, recommending about 11.5 cups (2.7 liters) for women and 15.5 cups (3.7 liters) for men from all food and beverages combined.

Why Body Weight Isn't the Only Factor:

Your actual fluid requirement depends on more than just the scale:

Physical Activity: Sweating through exercise or heavy labour increases how much fluid you lose.

Environment: Hot, humid weather or high altitudes raise your body's water loss.

Health and Diet: Fever, illness, pregnancy, breastfeeding, or eating a high-fiber/high-salt diet change your needs.

Food Sources: Roughly 20% of your daily water intake normally comes from the food you eat (especially fruits and vegetables).

Pro Tip - and yes, it sounds gross but hear me out!

A simple way to check your hydration is to look at your urine - pale yellow and odourless means you are well hydrated!

Happy hydrating day to you all!

Fun Fact Friday!!

Did you know that muscles produce up to 85% of your body's heat?

Yes that's right! Even more fascinating, is that this generates enough heat to boil almost 1 litre of water for an hour.

Your skeletal muscles act as your body's furnace, releasing thermal energy constantly, even at rest.

So how do we ensure balance in all this energy and heat production?

Everyday movement, of course! Regular physical activity keeps circulation strong and boosts daily energy expenditure.

See? Another case for keeping moving, daily!

Go out there and get moving today, hot stuff πŸ”₯ πŸ˜‚

Whilst you're at it, don't forget to hydrate adequately! 🧊🧊🧊

Have a great day and superb weekend!

Therapy Thursday!

Thursday is the bridge of the weekβ€”you are almost at the weekend, and your momentum matters most right now!

Remember: "Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment." β€” Jim Rohn

β€’ The 4% Rule: A one-hour workout is only 4% of your day. No excuses.

β€’ Process over Perfection: Fall in love with showing up today, and the results will follow naturally over time.

β€’ Thursday Therapy: Treat movement not as a punishment, but as a reset button for your mind and energy before the week wraps up.

Quick Thursday Action Ideas

β€’ Mid-Week Audit: Check in on your weekly movement goal. If you missed a day earlier, do not wait for Mondayβ€”restart right now.

β€’ Switch Up the Gear: Try cross-training or a new cardio style to break through a mid-week plateau. Or, choose a movement programme you've been wanting to try and see how it goes!

β€’ Hydrate and Fuel: Remember that exercise is king and nutrition is queen; feed your body well today.

Have a fabu-louTH THursday people! 🀣

And..not forgetting our new followers! Thank you 😊

Wobbly Wednesday! πŸ˜‚

Training isn't all about Strength - Your Balance deserves attention too.

Balance helps with everyday movements, sports and co-ordination. This is vital, especially as we get (ahem)...older πŸ˜‚

Try standing on one foot near a wall for support, keeping your posture steady and your movements controlled.

Switch sides and practise without rushing.

As you improve, you can gradually make the exercise more challenging.

Strong movement isn't only about how much you lift. It's also about how well you control your body!

Thank you to the WhatsApp Fitness Channel for the inspiration!

Have a balanced day everyone - in all aspects! πŸ˜†

Together Tuesday!

Something rather different to ponder on, today.

I came across a concept called "Together Tuesdays" which encourages families to connect over shared meals and quality time (see link below).

My point of posting this today is to reiterate how important mental wellbeing is to Fitness, and vice versa.

The support and encouragement of friends, families and gym buddies is crucial in your Fitness journey.

Don't forget to thank them, appreciate them and encourage them too!

Have a fun and friendly day everyone 😊
