We need to talk about what we're putting into your skin.

Exosomes and PDRN are two of the most discussed terms in regenerative aesthetics, but they are not interchangeable and they should not be treated as vague promises of younger skin.

The important questions are specific: What does the product actually contain? What is it intended to support? How is it being delivered? What evidence exists for that use? Is it appropriate for this skin and this treatment plan?

A fashionable ingredient does not automatically make every product equal. Formulation, quality, handling, delivery method and the person's skin all matter.

At aesthetiQue Medical Clinic in Gaborone, Botswana, we assess the skin and the purpose of the treatment before selecting what belongs in the protocol. Regenerative aesthetics should still be evidence-led, transparent and personalised.

How do you know if your skin barrier is damaged?

Common signs can include tightness after cleansing, stinging when products are applied, flaking, redness, unusual sensitivity or skin that feels oily and dehydrated at the same time. These signs are not a diagnosis, but they are a reason to pause before adding another acid, scrub or strong active.

The skin barrier helps reduce water loss and protect the skin from irritants. It can become disrupted by over-exfoliation, harsh cleansing, unsuitable product combinations, environmental exposure or aggressive treatment timing.

The answer is often to simplify the routine, support hydration, use appropriate sun protection and allow the skin to settle before deciding what comes next.

At aesthetiQue Medical Clinic in Gaborone, Botswana, we assess barrier health as part of choosing safe, appropriate skincare and professional treatments.

Treat the skin you have today, not the routine you saw online.

Summer in Botswana changes more than the temperature. It can also change what your skin needs.

Increased UV exposure, heat, sweating and more time outdoors can influence dehydration, sensitivity, breakouts and pigmentation. This is why the skincare routine that worked through the cooler months may not be the right routine for summer.

That does not mean adding more products. Summer may mean strengthening sun protection and antioxidant support, or adjusting hydration, exfoliation, active ingredients and the timing of professional treatments.

Pigmentation deserves particular attention. UV and visible light can contribute to pigmentation, while irritation may worsen post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation in susceptible skin.

At aesthetiQue Medical Clinic in Gaborone, Botswana, we assess your skin, homecare, concerns and goals before recommending a Personalised Skin Health Programme.

Your skin may not need more this summer. It may simply need different.

Real skin does not change overnight, and we do not believe in pretending that it does. The best results come from understanding the concern, choosing the right treatment, supporting the skin between appointments and giving the process enough time to work. At aesthetiQue, your plan may include a combination of professional skin treatments, microneedling, peels, IPL, advanced rejuvenation, exosome support or targeted scar treatments, depending entirely on what your skin needs. We will always choose the client-specific treatment details for this post from the actual case shown.

Healthy skin is a journey, and every plan should be as individual as the person following it.

Yes, daily SPF matters, especially in Botswana. UV exposure does not only happen when you are sitting beside a pool. It contributes to pigmentation, collagen breakdown and premature skin ageing, and it can undo progress you are making with treatments and homecare. If you are treating pigmentation, using active skincare, having peels, microneedling, IPL or other rejuvenation treatments, sun protection becomes part of the treatment plan, not an optional extra. Choose a sunscreen you are comfortable wearing every day, and use it consistently.

Pigmentation is frustrating because clearing the colour is only part of the job. If acne, inflammation, hormonal triggers, picking, irritation or UV exposure continue, new pigment can keep forming. At aesthetiQue, we look at what is driving the pigmentation before deciding how to treat it. Depending on your skin, your plan may include targeted homecare, professional chemical peels, IPL where appropriate, microneedling, skin rejuvenation treatments and strict daily SPF. The aim is not to chase one dark mark after another. It is to reduce the triggers while gradually improving the pigment already there.

A good skincare plan should make sense. Your cleanser, active ingredients, moisturiser and SPF should support the same goal as your in-clinic treatments. At aesthetiQue, we build homecare around your actual skin concerns, whether that is acne, pigmentation, ageing, dehydration, sensitivity or texture. We can then pair it with the treatments you genuinely need, from advanced facials and chemical peels to microneedling, IPL, exosome-supported rejuvenation and other personalised options. You do not need a ten-step routine. You need the right steps for your skin.

If your skincare cupboard is overflowing but your skin is still not improving, the answer may not be another product. Too many actives, duplicate ingredients, constant switching and products that do not suit your skin can leave you irritated, confused and spending far more than necessary. Bring your current skincare to aesthetiQue. We can help you work out what to keep, what to stop and what is actually missing. Your routine should have a purpose, not just a shelf full of promises.

If every acne scar is treated with the same procedure, results can be disappointing. Rolling or tethered scars may be held down by fibrous bands and can benefit from subcision. Other selected textural scars may respond to microneedling and collagen stimulation. Many people have a mixture of scar patterns, which is why we often plan treatment in stages rather than promising that one procedure will fix everything. At aesthetiQue, we assess the scar pattern, skin type and pigmentation risk before recommending your treatment pathway.

Treat the scar you actually have, not the treatment that happens to be trending.
