I get asked a LOT of questions, and some of them make me smile, some make me think, and then there are the “I don’t know” questions! 😂

A client will call and say, “I have a question. Maybe you can help me!”

Of course! That’s what I’m here for. 😊

Then comes the question…

“I need batteries for my scooter.”

Okay! What kind of scooter do you have?

“It's a Shoprider.”

Great! Which model?

And just like that, one question turns into several more! 😂

Here’s why I ask so many questions!

Mobility scooters and other medical equipment change over time. Models get updated, parts get redesigned, and some components are eventually discontinued. These changes can happen within just a few years, often around the 3–5 year mark.

Knowing you have a Shoprider that needs batteries is a great starting point, but unfortunately, it doesn’t tell me everything I need to know.

The brand AND model help me narrow things down, because different scooters can require different batteries depending on their design and electrical specifications.

Your stairlift helps you stay independent and comfortable in your own home. Give it the care it deserves! 💙

🧼 Regular cleaning matters!
Dust, dirt and everyday grime can build up on your stairlift. Keeping the seat, armrests and accessible surfaces clean helps keep your lift looking its best.

✅ A little safety check goes a long way!
✔️ Keep the track and surrounding stairs clear of clutter.
✔️ Check that the seat belt is in good condition and working properly.
✔️ Watch for unusual noises, jerky movement or changes in operation.
✔️ Keep charging contacts and other components clean according to the manufacturer's instructions.
✔️ If something doesn't seem right, stop using the lift and contact a qualified service technician.

💡 Remember: Never spray cleaners directly onto electrical components, sensors or charging contacts, and never attempt repairs yourself.

Sometimes something doesn't work, like your power wheelchair is beeping like crazy and won't move.
Same with scooters. Why does this happen?

The most common issue is the machine is in neutral.

When the machine is turned off, the neutral switch(es) can be put into push mode for ease in crowds or moving the equipment without the motors. The wheels will move freely in this position.

And sometimes, we forget to put it back into drive when ready to drive. The machine will then beep to make sure you know, and it will lock the wheels for safety purposes. It will flash colors or codes.

Easiest way to see is turn the machine off and check the neutral(s).

If it does not stop beeping after that, then you will want to call us to do a matenence check.

ROHO CUSHION INFLATION CARE:

Why? Having the cushion at the right level of air makes the difference between uncomfortable and pressure sores to sitting properly and no skin breakdown.

There are two types of inflation:
Standard & Atmospheric
Proper inflation is required for optimal skin protection and postural stability:

Standard Inflation: Inflate the cushion until all air cells are overinflated and the cushion begins to arch. Close valve, and adjust for proper immersion.

Atmospheric Inflation is chosen: Inflate until all air cells are firm, remove pump and keep valve open. Allow air to escape, close the inflation valve, and adjust for proper immersion. Environmental factors such as altitude, temperature, and body weight changes can affect air volume.

We get the question, when is the right time to take care of the tires for my manual or power wheelchair?

We can help with that.

Preferably, you want to make sure your tires are not showing big signs of wear - baldness, going flat, not keeping air, or, for solid tires, cracks and pieces coming off.

The time to check is dependent on your usage.
-if you only use occasionally for small trips, once every two years is fine, as the wear and tear is minimal.
-if your usage is often, or several times a week, yearly is good.
-consistant usage, 8 months to a year dependent on the equipment.

Why is it so important? If your tires are starting to bald, or slide when you ride, or they keep going flat, your brakes will not work efficiently.

It never hurts to ask if you need it checked, or you have questions about tires and different kinds ( some can be changed from air
