October 1, 2026 - GotoDoctor is pleased to announce that it has been selected as Melanoma Canada’s exclusive national Primary Care access partner, establishing a partnership to connect Canadians with physician and Primary Care services and strengthen the continuum of care surrounding Melanoma Canada’s Mole Mobile initiative.
The Mole Mobile, presented by Neutrogena and operating with the partnership and support of the Canadian Dermatology Association (CDA), brings skin cancer screening, education and early detection directly into communities across Canada, with a focus on improving access for populations that may face barriers to traditional care. The initiative combines community-based screening and education with opportunities for Canadians to better understand their skin health and seek appropriate follow-up care.
Based on the latest survey from the OurCare project, approximately 6 million Canadians do not have a family doctor, nurse practitioner or other primary care provider, while only 37% of those with a provider report being able to access urgent care on the same or next day. GotoDoctor will provide Melanoma Canada with access to primary care services through its national physician network, care navigation capabilities and proprietary AI-enabled healthcare platform. The platform is designed to match patients with the appropriate care resource based on their needs, available services and care pathways, helping create a connected journey from community-based screening and education to timely clinical follow-up. With more than 100 family physicians, specialists and providers, together with an established clinic network, GotoDoctor provides the infrastructure and reach to support access to both virtual and in-person care across provinces and communities.
A National Primary Care Access Partnership
As Melanoma Canada continues to advance access to skin cancer education, screening and early detection, GotoDoctor will serve as its exclusive Primary Care access partner.
The partnership will leverage:
AI-Enabled Care Matching - Using GotoDoctor’s proprietary Service Engine to help match patients with appropriate physicians, care settings and healthcare resources based on their needs and available care pathways.
National Physician Access - Connecting Melanoma Canada to GotoDoctor’s physician network and Primary Care services across Canada.
Care Navigation - Guiding patients toward appropriate healthcare resources and care pathways based on their needs.
Virtual and In-Person Care - Integrating digital access with GotoDoctor’s network
Public Healthcare Integration - Operating within Canada’s public healthcare environment and facilitating connections to appropriate points of care.
Healthcare Technology - Leveraging the GotoDoctor Service Engine to connect patients, providers, and healthcare organizations through a coordinated technology platform.
National Healthcare Relationships - Drawing on established relationships across the insurance, benefits, and healthcare sectors.
“Melanoma Canada has built an important initiative focused on improving awareness, early detection and access to skin cancer screening, and we are proud to be its exclusive Primary Care access partner,” said Tommy Cheung, President and CEO of GotoDoctor. “Our role extends beyond providing access to physicians. We bring together Primary Care expertise, care navigation, technology and physical healthcare infrastructure to help connect patients with the appropriate resources across Canada. We look forward to applying these capabilities alongside Melanoma Canada’s expertise to strengthen access to care for Canadians.”
“Early detection has the greatest impact when people can access appropriate follow-up care,” said Falyn Katz, CEO of Melanoma Canada. “The Mole Mobile brings skin cancer screening and education directly to communities from coast to coast, including those where access to care can be challenging. This partnership with GotoDoctor will strengthen the pathway from screening to primary care, helping visitors understand and take the next steps in their care.”
Building on Proven Impact
Since its launch in 2023, the Mole Mobile has screened 22,483 Canadians across all 10 provinces and identified more than 3,184 suspicious lesions. These screenings have helped connect Canadians with potentially life-saving follow-up care, enabling earlier attention to lesions that may require further assessment.
By bringing screening and education directly into communities, the Mole Mobile continues to help reduce barriers to early detection and support Canadians in navigating the next steps in their skin health.
The partnership establishes a national Primary Care access framework connecting Melanoma Canada’s community-based initiatives with GotoDoctor’s physician network, care navigation capabilities and physical healthcare infrastructure. Together, the organizations will strengthen the pathway from awareness and screening to appropriate Primary Care access, helping more Canadians navigate the next step in their care.
