We are very happy to welcome a new team member!

In Andrea's words....

"Art-making has helped me express feelings I didn’t yet have words for and process challenging experiences. In therapy, creativity can offer another way for you or your child to explore emotions, make sense of experiences, and discover new ways of responding to everyday challenges. You don’t need artistic skills to begin.

Together, we can create a space where you or your child can explore what feels difficult, build on existing strengths, and be yourself without judgment or pressure to have everything figured out."

A Monday Moment with Meghan!

What is one of your favourite songs or musical artists?

"Picking just one favourite song is tough because I love so many different kinds of music! Lately, one of my favourites has been “Say So” by Dan + Shay, especially after getting to see them live in concert recently!

I love the message behind the song and how it reminds us to tell the people we love just how much they mean to us.

Some of my other favourite artists are Owen Riegling, Cameron Whitcomb, and Alex Warren.

I've always been someone who loves having music on, and there's rarely a quiet moment in our house! Whether I'm cooking, cleaning, or just hanging out, you can almost guarantee there's music playing in the background!" Meghan

*We'd love to know what is your favourite song right now?*

Why Art Therapy Works!

• Non-verbal expression: It provides an outlet for difficult or traumatic memories that are hard to put into words.

• Brain integration: It engages both the creative right brain and the analytical left brain to process deep-seated emotions.

• Anxiety reduction: Concentrated creative work disrupts obsessive or spiraling thought patterns ("the mental hamster wheel") and shifts focus to the present moment.

• Nervous system regulation: Repetitive physical actions like painting or working with clay help soothe the body, slow breathing, and lower stress.

• No art skills needed: The goal is the process of creation and self-exploration, not making a pretty picture.

Andrea's Calendar is open starting in October.... perhaps this method is worth exploring to support your mental health goals.

They might be dealing with specific issues, and they’re looking to mend and enhance their relationships.

Every couple’s story is one of a kind, and their goals are as unique as they are.

Therapy helps couples learn to communicate more openly and constructively.

Words of Gratitude This Thanksgiving!

This Thanksgiving, I find myself filled with gratitude for my family, my friends, life's opportunities, and the incredible Mind 2 Heart community.

I am especially grateful for the privilege of supporting my clients through their triumphs, challenges, and everything in between. I am thankful for the dedicated colleagues I have the opportunity to work alongside, the connections we continue to build, and the individuals who make up our wonderful community, both in person and online. These connections fill me with joy, purpose, and a deep appreciation for the beauty of human connection.

Thanksgiving is often a time when we intentionally reflect on the things we are grateful for. However, I also want to offer a gentle reminder that gratitude is something we can carry with us throughout the year. So often, we become caught up in our day-to-day responsibilities that it can be challenging to pause and appreciate the moments, both big and small, that bring meaning to our lives.

Gratitude is a mindfulness practice that can support our well-being in many ways, including encouraging present-moment awareness, reducing stress, supporting emotional regulation, and improving our ability to focus on what matters most.

Sometimes, a simple moment of appreciation or a heartfelt word of thanks can help shift our perspective and reconnect us with the people and experiences that bring us joy.

I also recognize that Thanksgiving, like many holidays, can bring a mixture of emotions. Not every moment is easy, and gratitude does not mean overlooking life's challenges. Rather, even during difficult times, moments of thankfulness, compassion, and connection can offer us opportunities to feel grounded and supported.

My wish for all of you this Thanksgiving is to spend time in ways that bring you purpose, joy, creativity, connection, and meaning, whatever that may look like for you.

I encourage you to take a moment to reflect on the people, experiences, and little moments that fill your heart, and to carry some of that gratitude with you as you move through your days.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

Katie

You don't have to carry it all alone. Mental health is a journey, and our doors are always open to help you navigate it.

Your mental health is just as important as your physical health. Let’s break the stigma together, one conversation at a time.

What is something you wished everyone understood about 'mental health'?
