🦷 "I brush every day. Why do I still have buildup?"
Fair question - and one we hear often. Dental plaque is a biofilm: a sticky community of microorganisms that forms on teeth. Brushing helps remove it, but areas between teeth, along the gumline and around dental work can be difficult to reach. It can mean your routine needs a little support.
Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT)
GBT is a structured approach to dental hygiene care that makes biofilm visible, removes it and helps you understand how to manage it at home. Here's what that looks like:
🔎 First, we assess your mouth.
Your gum health, sensitivity, dental work and medical history help guide your treatment.
🎨 Then, we reveal the biofilm.
A colouring solution highlights plaque that can be hard to see. This gives us a map for cleaning - and helps you see where your toothbrush or interdental cleaning might need adjusting. It's information, never a report card.
💨AIRFLOW® removes biofilm and surface stains.
It uses air, water and a fine powder to clean tooth surfaces. Treatment can also address areas around braces, implants and beneath the gumline.
🦷 We remove remaining tartar.
Tartar is hardened plaque. AIRFLOW doesn't replace every part of scaling; ultrasonic instruments and, when needed, hand instruments remove deposits that remain.
✅ We check the results and plan your next steps.
That includes practical home-care advice and a recall interval based on your needs.
A few honest things we want you to know:
- Comfort matters, but nobody can promise zero discomfort. Sensitive teeth, inflamed gums and heavier deposits affect how treatment feels. Tell us what you're feeling so we can adjust.
- Stain removal isn't the same as whitening.
Removing external stains may brighten your smile, but it doesn't' change your teeth's natural colour.
- Bleeding deserves attention. Plaque-related inflammation can cause bleeding gums, even when they don't hurt. Ongoing bleeding is something to assess, rather than simply accept.
-Biofilm comes back. A professional cleaning supports your daily care; it doesn't' replace it.
We want you to leave understand your mouth - not feeling embarrassed about it🤍
