No one treats whiplash like this—and that’s the problem.. most therapists go straight for the sore muscles after a whiplash injury… but that’s NOT where the problem starts!
🚗 In a rear-end collision, the first force isn’t horizontal—it’s vertical.
👉 When the thoracic kyphosis and lumbar lordosis are flattened suddenly because of sudden impact-the spine lengthens → atlas drives into the occiput, sacrum drives down into the pelvis.
👉 Then the head whips back, straining the anterior fascia + muscles.
If you don’t treat the vertical vectors, your client will never truly release.
Instead of grinding away at big muscles (and wrecking your hands), here’s the protocol:
🔹Push inferiorly along the top of the head and match the vectors of injury, engage the tissues stacking them 3 dimensionally
🔹 Say “Body show me what’s required” and follow the pull of the fascia, ride the wave until a balanced point or still point is found
🔹 Maintain this position of balance and still point until a release occurs. When you feel the rhythmic pulse of the interstitial tide flooding back into the tissues… your job is done!
Small corrections → huge release.
This is advanced work most therapists never learn—and it changes EVERYTHING.
