I genuinely do not understand how murder can ever be considered an acceptable punishment for cheating. A woman does not surrender her right to safety, dignity, or life simply because she is married.
We are not disputing the fact that infidelity—whether committed by a woman or a man—can deeply damage marriages and families. What I don’t understand is why the emphasis is so heavily placed on cheating as a leading cause of femicide, rather than on the perpetrator’s choices, emotional regulation, entitlement, and willingness to use violence.
A wife’s infidelity is never a justification for murder. There were countless other options: separation, divorce, counseling, walking away, seeking support, or simply ending the relationship. He had choices, and he chose to kill her.
We need to stop victim-blaming. Cheating may be a relationship issue, but murder is a choice made by the perpetrator. How is it her fault that her husband murdered her?
A woman should never have to be “faithful enough” to deserve to live. The responsibility for the violence belongs to the person who chose to commit it.
