Join us on September 17, 2026 for "In Relation to Everything" presented by Ayya Ahimsa

All of our dhamma practice is done in relation to something. We're essentially always in relation to whatever we're paying attention to. And, we might say that, in order for our dhamma practice to progress, we need to be in good relation to four things: the dhamma, ourselves, our meditation object and, in general, to our environment. How can we bring ourselves into a good relationship to all that is as it is?

Join us on September 3, 2026 for "Spirituality, like everything else, is evolving" presented by Badri Rickhi

The power of the spiritual guru is declining; becoming your own spiritual guru is the new norm. Kundalini awakening is the past; Divine awakening is the Now. Dr. Rickhi will present an interpretation of what is evolving and how we can choose to become Masters of our own destinies.

Join us on June 18, 2026 for "Forgiveness and Letting Go"
presented by Nicole Libin, Ph,D. Certified Mindfulness Meditation Educator and Coach

Forgiveness isn't about letting someone off the hook. It's about seeing the cost of holding on to that which might be actively hurting us. Most of us know we should let go. The harder question is how. In this talk, we will look at what keeps us stuck in old resentments and patterns and explore how mindfulness can help us find our way out.

Join us on June 4, 2026 for "A Mindful Approach to Emotions"
presented by Dr. Al-Noor Mawani. PhD. R.Psych. Clinical Psychologist

A Mindful approach to emotions involves the development of the capacity to observe internal experiences with clarity and without immediate reactivity. Rather than suppressing or amplifying emotional states, mindfulness cultivates an intentional awareness of thoughts, bodily sensations, and affect as they arise in real time. This metacognitive stance cultivates the ability to enhance emotional regulation and support adaptive behavioral choices and enhance one's relationship with emotions —shifting from avoidance or over-identification toward acceptance and measured engagement. We will explore what we can learn from emotions and how a mindful approach can be helpful in everyday life circumstances.

Join us on April 16, 2026 for "CULTIVATING SATI (Remembering/Mindfulness/Recollecting/Focusing/Awareness)" presented by Jayanta (Shirley Johannesen).

In our world today there are many interpretations of the word "mindfulness". It's important to investigate the usage and significance of such a word. I will approach it here as a part of the Buddhist Dhamma, and how the word is used today to help guide us on a spiritual path.

Shirley (Jayantā), founder and president of Stretch Awareness, is an acknowledged and respected teacher of yoga and meditation. For over 50 years, she has studied and practised with a wide range of internationally known teachers. A well as her commitment to the inner work of Buddhist meditation, she is also deeply involved in compassionate action through teaching and mentoring student.

Jayantā is a founding member of numerous associations, including Sakyadhita Canada Association of Buddhist Women, Yoga Association of Alberta, Calgary Theravadan Meditation Society, and is a lay Buddhist minister in association with Abhayagiri Buddhist Monastery in California.

Don't miss this unique opportunity to learn from one of the most experienced Mindfulness teachers in Alberta!
