We've been quietly reflecting on Sober Runway and enjoying all the posts, reposts, stories and shares on social media. It's remarkable and heartwarming to see the spirit and joy of celebration reflected back to us.

We have said over and over again that recovery deserves to be seen and to be celebrated out loud, and celebrate we did!

Sincere thanks to everyone who attended, supported and participated in Sober Runway. It was unforgettable. We can't wait for next year's show!

Simran Dhaliwal's penchant for fashion started by cutting up her mom's clothes to create something more interesting. As she got older, she made better choices as to when to get the scissors out, but her desire to create interesting, noticable looks never went away.

Simran describes her personal style as camp, and as stylist for Sober Runway, brings some of her bold touches to the shows. She loves to see the models' perspectives change as they move from "I wouldn't wear that!" to "I love how I look in this!"

Disruptive Villaj is the new kid on the block in Calgary's thrift scene. Open for only seven months, River and AJ are making their mark by curating their rotations and finding styles that are unique to Disruptive. "The villaj is for the people," says River. They shop for anyone looking for something a mall or fast fashion shop just can't provide.

When asked what interested Disruptive Village in getting involved with Sober Runway, River shares that her mom struggled with addiction and has been sober for over 7 years now. "It was the greatest gift getting my mom back and learning about what sobriety and addiction meant. Today it means everything to me!"

Alnoor Damji is a self-described lover of life, even when it's hard. Having gone through a difficult separation and experiencing grief he did not know how to carry, Alnoor turned to alcohol to numb the pain. His recovery included a significant weight loss journey and the realization that his deep desire to belong had shaped his life's path.

Changing his perspective on what it means to belong, Alnoor has used his personal experience to help people design their own lives and careers. He has a passion for and dedication to diversity, equity and inclusion, and is spearheading an initiative called Brave Space that fosters an environment where people can trust they'll be accepted for showing up as they are.
