🎨💜 Process Not Perfection® — Expressive Arts Trauma Recovery Group

One of the things I have learned through my work is that healing doesn’t always happen through words. Sometimes we need to paint it, write it, move it, create it, or simply experience it differently.

Based on the book by Jamie Marich, Process Not Perfection® is an 11-week journey that uses expressive arts to explore trauma, healing, resilience, self-compassion, and what it means to create a life of recovery.

And you do not have to be artistic! This isn’t about creating something beautiful or getting it “right.” It’s about the process, not perfection. 💜

Each week we will explore a different theme, beginning with grounding and creating safety and gradually moving through topics such as emotional safety, self-compassion, the connection between trauma and the body, resilience, flexibility, nourishment, and creating a sustainable life of recovery.

📅 Begins October 15, 2026
🕕 Thursdays | 6:00–9:00 pm
📍 154 Thames St., Unit 8, Chatham
💜 $50 per session, to be paid each week. (may be able to be billed through insurance)
🎨 11 sessions

Because each session builds on the previous weeks, committing to the full group is strongly recommended. If there is enough interest, I am also open to adding a daytime group.

I truly believe there are many different ways to heal. Sometimes giving ourselves permission to create, explore, make a mess, move, laugh, cry, and connect can help us discover things that words alone cannot reach.

Healing can begin exactly where you are. You don't need to be perfect. You just need to be willing to begin. 🦋

⚠ CK Public Health Warns of Increased Drug Poisonings in Chatham-Kent ⚠

CK Public Health is issuing an alert about an increase in drug poisonings (overdoses) and unexpected reactions to substances in Chatham-Kent.

From October 9 to October 13, 2026, CK EMS responded to 13 suspected opioid poisoning calls, an average of three calls per day, exceeding the community's usual rate of opioid-related emergency calls.

Local partners have noted increased use of naloxone, strong sedation, and concerns about a highly toxic drug supply.

This serves as an important reminder that the unregulated drug supply is unpredictable and always changing. Substances may not be what individuals expect, increasing the risk of harm or death.

Share this warning to help raise awareness and reduce the risk of drug poisonings.

🎨💜 Registration is Closing Soon!

There is still time to join Process Not Perfection® — an 11-week Expressive Arts Trauma Recovery Group, but registration closes Monday, October 12!

This group is something I am really passionate about because healing doesn’t always happen through talking alone. Sometimes we need an opportunity to create, move, write, paint, explore and express the things that can be difficult to put into words.
Based on the book by Jamie Marich, this group is about the process of healing—not creating perfect art. You do not need to consider yourself artistic or creative to participate.
Throughout our 11 weeks together, we’ll explore grounding and safety, emotional regulation, self-compassion, the body’s connection to trauma, resilience, flexibility, nourishment and ultimately what it means to create a sustainable life of recovery. 💜
📅 Starts Thursday, October 15, 2026
⏰ 6:00–9:00 pm
📍 154 Thames St., Unit 8, Chatham
🎨 $50 per session (paid each week. It may be covered by insurance)
🦋 11-week group

Because each week builds on the one before it, a commitment to attending all sessions is strongly recommended.

Registration closes Monday, October 12.

If you’ve been looking at this group and wondering whether it might be for you, now is the time to reach out. Sometimes beginning is the hardest part—and you don’t have to have everything figured out before you start.

💜 Healing can begin exactly where you are.

🍂🐴 A Great Time to Bring Your Team Together

Fall is a season of change, reflection, and fresh starts — which makes it a wonderful time to step outside of the usual workplace environment and reconnect as a team.

Equine Team Building offers something different.

Horses are incredibly aware of body language, energy, communication, and consistency. They respond to what is happening in the moment, providing honest and immediate feedback that can help teams recognize patterns that may be harder to see around a boardroom table.

Through guided, ground-based activities with the horses, teams can work on:

🌿 Building trust and stronger connections
💬 Improving communication
🐴 Developing leadership skills
🤝 Strengthening collaboration
🌱 Increasing self-awareness
🧩 Practicing problem-solving and adaptability
💜 Learning how individual strengths contribute to the whole team

And perhaps one of the best parts? You don't need any horse experience. There is no riding involved. Activities are designed so participants can engage at their own comfort level.

Whether your team is welcoming new members, navigating change, experiencing communication challenges, or simply looking for a meaningful way to reconnect, spending time with the horses can create conversations and learning that stay with you long after the day is over.

🍂 This is a beautiful time of year to get outside, slow things down, and invest in your team.

🧡 National Day for Truth and Reconciliation 🧡

Today, September 30, we honour the children who never returned home, the Survivors of residential schools, and their families and communities.

Every Child Matters.

Truth and reconciliation are about more than acknowledging the past. They are about listening, learning, reflecting, and recognizing the lasting impacts that residential schools and intergenerational trauma continue to have on Indigenous Peoples, families, and communities.

As a mental health professional, I believe there is importance in creating space for stories to be heard, experiences to be acknowledged, and healing to happen in ways that honour each person’s journey.

Today, I encourage all of us to take some time to listen, learn, and reflect on what reconciliation means and how we can carry it forward beyond September 30.

🧡 We remember.
🧡 We honour.
🧡 We listen.
🧡 We continue to learn.

I’m looking forward to bringing Process Not Perfection® to Chatham this fall.

This expressive arts group is a chance to explore trauma recovery through writing, painting, movement, and crafting. You do not need to be an artist. What matters is giving yourself room to try, reflect, and create without worrying about getting it “right.”

The graphic shows what we’ll explore each week, beginning Thursday, October 15, 2026. Each session builds on the last, so I highly recommend joining us for the full series. If you need to miss a week, I can provide the materials and instructions for that session.

📍 154 Thames St., Unit 8, Chatham
🕕 Thursdays, 6:00–9:00 p.m.
💜 $50 per session, billed the night of each session
🧾 Sessions may be covered by insurance; please check your plan.

Wear comfortable clothes that you can move and create in. I would love to have you join us.

I am really excited to finally share this. 💜

One of the things I feel strongly about as a therapist is that healing doesn’t always happen by sitting in a chair and talking. Sometimes we need different ways to express what we’ve experienced—especially when there simply aren’t words for it.

That is why I’m so passionate about bringing Process Not Perfection®, an 11-week Expressive Arts Trauma Recovery Group based on the book by Jamie Marich, to my practice.

This group isn’t about being artistic. You don’t have to know how to draw, paint, write, move, or create. There is absolutely no expectation of perfection—that’s the whole point. 💜

It’s about having a safe and supportive space where you can explore your story, your emotions, and your healing through expressive arts, movement, music, writing, mindfulness and other creative approaches.

Trauma can leave us feeling disconnected from ourselves, our bodies, and sometimes the people around us. My hope is that this group provides a place where people can begin reconnecting—with themselves and with others who understand that healing is rarely a straight line.

🌿 The group begins October 15, 2026
🎨 11 weeks — Thursday evenings from 6:00–9:00 pm
💜 $50 per session
📍 154 Thames St., Unit 8, Chatham

Because each week builds on the last, a commitment to attending all sessions is recommended.

And I’ve already been thinking about those who would love to participate but simply can’t make an evening group. If there is enough interest, I would be very happy to add a daytime group as well.

This is something I’m genuinely excited to offer. Healing doesn’t have to look a certain way. It doesn’t have to be neat, and it certainly doesn’t have to be perfect.

It just has to start where you are. 🦋💜
