🌿 DID YOU KNOW?
Some essential oils are naturally much thicker than others.
You shake the bottle.
You tilt it.
You wait…
And NOTHING comes out of the dropper. 😅
Before thinking something is wrong with your oil — don’t worry!
Essential oils such as Myrrh, Vetiver, Sandalwood and Patchouli can naturally have a thicker, more viscous consistency. Their texture comes from their natural aromatic composition, and the viscosity can vary depending on the oil, the batch and even the temperature.
👉 Myrrh and Vetiver can be especially thick and slow-moving.
👉 Sandalwood and Patchouli are generally heavier and more viscous than many lighter essential oils.
So if your oil is taking its sweet time getting out of the bottle… patience may be all it needs. 🌿
✨ HOW TO HELP A THICK ESSENTIAL OIL FLOW
Start simple:
🤲 Warm the bottle between your hands for a few minutes.
You can also gently tap the bottom of the bottle to help the oil reach the dropper.
Still not moving?
💧 Place the closed bottle inside a small Ziploc bag, removing as much air as possible.
💧 Place the bag in a container of hot — but NOT boiling — water for approximately 5–10 minutes.
💧 Remove, dry and try the dropper again.
Because the oil is naturally viscous, you may need to repeat this step before future uses.
🌿 EXTRA TIP:
For extremely thick oils, you can carefully remove the dropper insert and use a pipette or clean toothpick to take the amount you need.
🚫 Avoid the microwave. Excessive heat can affect the quality and aromatic properties of your essential oil.
So next time your Myrrh or Vetiver refuses to leave the bottle…
It’s not being difficult. It’s just naturally THICK. 😉🌿
