Today, October 15th, the Dryden Regional Palliative Care Committee would like to honour and remember all the babies who are gone too soon. To every parent, family member, and loved one carrying the love and loss of a precious baby, please know you are not alone. Your babies are remembered, cherished, and held close in our hearts not just today but every day.

Today is Pregnancy and Infant Lost Remembrance Day.

Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day is a time to honour the babies who were loved, hoped for, and deeply missed. Today, we remember the families who carry these precious lives in their hearts every day, often through a grief that is unseen by others.

For those who have experienced miscarriage, stillbirth, infant loss, or the loss of a pregnancy, please know that your baby is remembered, your grief is valid, and you are not alone.

It is a global event where participants light a candle at 7:00 PM local time and leave it burning for at least one hour to create a continuous wave of light across time zones. As we light a candle and take a moment of reflection, let us offer compassion, support, and understanding to all who walk this journey. May we create space for remembrance, healing, and hope while honouring every baby's lasting impact.

🕯️ Forever loved. Forever remembered. Forever in our hearts.

Many people believe that palliative care is for only at end of life!

đź’™ What is early palliative care and why does timing matter?

Many people think palliative care is only for the final weeks or days of life. In reality, palliative care can be introduced much earlier, alongside treatments and other supports.

Early palliative care focuses on helping people live as well as possible by managing symptoms, supporting emotional wellbeing, improving communication, and helping individuals and families plan for the future based on what matters most to them.

Research continues to show that when palliative care is integrated earlier in the course of a serious illness, people and families are often better supported to make informed decisions, access appropriate services, and maintain quality of life throughout their journey.

At Life & Death Matters, we believe palliative care should not begin at a crisis point. It should be available when people need it, helping them live well, navigate uncertainty, and make choices that reflect their values and goals.
